nntp (aka, usenet) client in kde?
by Gene Smith
I currently use t-bird with an nntp account pointing to gmane to read
this list and sereral others. Does kde have an nntp client program of
any sort? I don't see it as a possible new account type in kmail. Also,
search with kpackagekit yields nothing with "usenet" or "nntp" that is
kde specific.

Dbus upgrade?
by moabi2000
Hi Rex,
Any idea on the likelihood of there being a dbus upgrade for F13 that
will fix Bug 208921?
http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=208921
I tried installing the dbus-1.4 from koji (F14 build), but that drags
in the whole of systemd...
Would try upgrading to F14 beta, but it seems somewhat iffy at the
moment and this is my main machine.
cheers

kmix not handling multiple audio devices correctly in 4.5?
by Andreas Petzold
Hi,
I'm running kde 4.5.1 on F13. If I plug in a usb sound device, audio output
switches to the usb device since I've set the usb device to be preferred in
phonon system settings. However, kmix doesn't switch the master channel to the
preferred device. I can switch the kmix master channel manually, but I would
expect that this will happen automatically.
Is anyone else seeing a similar problem, or do I have a botched pulse/phonon/...
config?
Cheers,
Andreas

kde-plasma-networkmanagement-0.9-0.25 coming to kde-testing
by Rex Dieter
OK, this is a notable one, so here's the scoop. :)
kde-plasma-networkmanagement-0.9-0.25
1. Obsoletes: knetworkmanager
2. enables the requisite networkmanagement kded module by default
3. includes a script to enable the the nm plasma applet in your systray
(on your next login).
This was done because:
1. upstream doesn't have much interested in the monolithic knm client
anymore (ie, no support, no bug fixes, yada yada)
2. knm doesn't work (well) with kde-4.5 anyway, see
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=604798
for more details.

Trash can issue.
by linux guy
When I try to delete files in Dolphin, I get the following message.
"The trash has reached its maximum size! Cleanup the trash manually."
When I click on the trash can icon in my panel, I find it is empty.
Why is this happening ?
Thanks

Hi,
I doubt if it's a Qt 4.7 issue. My rawhide doesn't give the alerts, but Fc14
does (running as virtual machine, qemu-kvm)

kde-4.5 blocker : selinux alerts anyone?
by Rex Dieter
re:
Bug 590883 SELinux is preventing /usr/libexec/kde4/kdm_greet "write"
access on /bin. - https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=590883
or anything even resembling that, is a blocker for us to release f14 and
f13/kde-4.5.x updates.
turns out, try as I might, I am unable to reproduce any selinux alerts
on my f13 + kde-4.5.x (from kde-testing) test box. I'm going to reboot
into f14 here in a bit... but,
If anyone else can reliably reproduce any selinux alerts on an
up-to-date f13/kde-4.5.x install or f14, please chime in here or in the
aforementioned bug. Thank you.

How to get KDE 4.5 on Fedora 13
by Sonic
Hello
What's the recommended way of installing KDE SC 4.5 on Fedora 13? Does
KDE 4.5 require Qt 4.7?
Right now, I've enabled kde-testing and doing a yum groupupdate
kde-desktop. But this doesn't seem to pull in Qt 4.7.
Do I need to enable kde-unstable as well?

KMail2 is getting better.
by Martin Kho
Hi,
Don't know if some one else is still fiddling with KMail 2, but I think it's a
lot better usable now. At least, it doesn't 'eat babies' anymore :-)
I'm using KMail2 as part of KDE 4.5.1-2 (F15, rawhide), in 'IMAP-mode'
(gmail). Of course there are some issues:
1. Notifications are rather paranoia. Notifications appear at random, telling
that there are new messages but there aren't.
2. Switching from one folder to another doesn't activate latest read message
in that folder.
3. Selecting a To: recipient from the contacts list doesn't show up in the To:
field of the New mail compose window.
Does anyone else experience this or have any other experiences?
Thanks,
Martin Kho
