= Agenda =
topics to discuss:
* 4.6.0 status
* stick to 700 MiB (CD-sized) live images
** xz SquashFS brought the nightlies down to 655 MiB, we even have space left!
* reconsider the OnlyShowIn=KDE; for System Settings
** e.g. sound events for KDE apps can only be configured from System Settings
= Summary =
4.6.0 status
* 4.6.0 is built, ltinkl is building rebased kdebase-workspace packages (one
plasma fix, powerdevil migration issues)
* ''ACTION'': Kevin_Kofler to add Conflits to kdelibs because of KatePart Smart*
issue (kile, kdevplatform/kdevelop and rkward)
* ''ACTION'': rdieter_work to work on KDevelop 4.2.0 after meeting
* 4.6.0 for F14
** we are not sure we need exception from FESCo, SMParrish says it was granted,
he will check
** do we want 4.6.0? or 4.6.1 because of the lack of testing?
** do we want HAL or uDisks/uPower?
** both to be decided in a near future
stick to 700 MiB (CD-sized) live images
* ''AGREED'' to stick with CD-sized image
reconsider the OnlyShowIn=KDE; for System Settings
* ''AGREED'' to not enable it by now and ask upstream what they think
* reasons are
** we cannot add KDE to the name as we will break translations
** kdebase-workspace is not dragged in all the times

Phonon in kde-testing
by Colin J Thomson
Hi,
Has anyone noticed a problem with Phonon from kde-testing, since updating to
test it I have noticed Kmix starts to eat a lot of CPU overtime, so I reverted
back and all seems well so far.
F14/4.5.95
Going to check bugzilla now.

4.6/unstable constantly hangs...
by Gilboa Davara
Hello all,
Just updated my two workstation to 4.6 (kde-unstable).
I'm experiencing constant 10-15 second hangs on simple operations such
as right-click on Dolphin, or searches within krunner.
Looking at top and .xsession-errors doesn't reveal anything.
I never experienced the same w/ 4.5.9x beta/rcX. (Beyond the constant
dbus-daemon file handle leakages that causes it to eat 100% CPU)
20??
Anyone else seeing the same?

Netbook favourites disappear
by Chris Smart
Has anyone else noticed a problem with the netbook interface, where
favourite icons might disappear from time to time? As seen here
http://ur1.ca/2z3it
A log out and log in usually fixes the problem, but it doesn't always
happen. Sometimes icons are fine!
Thanks!

Amarok not very beloved :-)
by Martin Kho
Hi,
After the MySQL breakage, this time the latest version of libmtp makes Amarok
crash. In .xsession-errors I see:
QObject::connect: Cannot connect Meta::MediaDeviceHandler::incrementProgress()

Meta::MediaDeviceHandler::endProgressOperation(QObject*) to
(null)::endProgressOperation(QObject*)

Please report this VID/PID and the device model to the libmtp development team

Against which package do I have to file a bug, Amarok or libmtp?

KDE fail to start after clean install F14
by Armelius Cameron
Hello,
I previously had F12. I just did a clean install of F14, but I left my /home
intact (it's on another partition). So obviously KDE files and settings
(~/.kde) is still the old ones.
When I logged in, KDE would try to start but then seems to die. X would just
quit and give me back KDM. I can't tell what's wrong from looking at Xorg.log
(it just say X exit unexpetedly or something like that).
I tried removing ~/.kde so it would start fresh, and that works. Obviously
that works as a backup plan: just start fresh and reconfigure all my KDE apps
again. But if possible I want to avoid that. Any idea where I should start
looking why things go bad ? Does KDE has its own log ?
Thanks

Bluetooth under KDE?
by Timothy Murphy
Is there a working Bluetooth setup under KDE-4.5?
I've downloaded all the relevant packages, as far as I can see,
but none of them seem to provide a file /etc/hcid.conf ,
which according to the (rather old) documentation I have seen
is a vital component of Linux Bluetooth.
There doesn't seem to be any documentation at all for kbluetooth,
and it is not clear to me (no bluetooth expert)
how it is meant to work, or what service it provides.
Any elucidation (or pointer to documentation) gratefully received.

topics to discuss:
* keep kdepim-4.6 or revert to kdepim-4.4. Testing so far as been mixed:
** rdieter did quick test against gmail imap: ok
** dgilmore testing against ~100gb imap mail: (mostly) fail, initial sync of
data resulted in akonadi crash, and pegging cpu for quite awhile.
** anyone else have any testing feedback, good or bad?
* missing deps (4.6, koffice)...
recent bugs:
* some keyboard options/layouts (set via system-config-keyboard) make kdm input
non-functional [1]
= Summary =
missing deps (4.6, koffice)...
* kdeedu
** gosmore and routino are the offline routing, runtime deps
** we don't want to enable experimental Python bindings for Marble now
** ACTION: Kevin_Kofler to look at gosmore and routino (and convince local GIS
geek - volter - to look at too)
* KOffice: there's a bunch of compile-time deps missing, they're already in a
specfile comment
** ACTION: jreznik to look on missing KO deps
keep kdepim-4.6 or revert to kdepim-4.4
* user reports
** rdieter report success using kmail 4.6 with his 100 mb GMail mailbox
** dgilmore testing against ~100gb imap mail: (mostly) fail, initial sync of
data resulted in akonadi crash, and pegging cpu for quite awhile
** jreznik reports - importing new email ok, actually very good, after restart
Akonadi and Nepomuk eating 100% cpu
** than reports several crashes
** we need more users testing!
***kdepim-4.6 in kde-unstable! the must for kde siggers!
* rdieter considered shipping kdepim-enterprise
** Kevin pointed it's pre-akonadi version, data migration issues with
kaddressbook
* AGREED: to make 2 go/no-go decisions for kdepim 4.6? 1. Is it testable by Feb
8 (feature freeze)? 2. Do the tests look good by 100% complete deadline (March
22)
some keyboard options/layouts (set via system-config-keyboard) make kdm input
non-functional
* looking for people using several layouts to reproduce and to provide more
clues

KDE Spin or Full Distro ?
by Armelius Cameron
Hello,
Please forgive my ignorant, but I've always wondered about this. What's the
primary difference between using Fedora KDE Spin v.s. the full distro ? I don't
mean to try it on live media, I want to install on hard drive. In the past, I
think I have just got the full DVD distro and pick KDE as desktop environment
and not install Gnome (or maybe both, and then just use KDE as the default
session). I also usually install a lot of non-KDE apps and Gnome apps.
So, why do I want the KDE spin instead ? Is there primary advantage ? (These
are genuine questions, not trying to be sarcastic :) ). Will I still get the
bulk of non-KDE app on the spin version ?
Thanks.

kpackagekit does not show in systray
by Martin (KDE)
Hallo
the last years I used to use yum-updatesd to automatically update my
system. But as some users switched of the computer during update I
thought of switching to packagekit (the KDE variant). On my newly
setup laptop this works as expected. I got a Icon in the systemtray if
there are updates detected.
On my other computer (the one previously updated with yum-updatesd)
this does not work. I have set up the kpackagekit to check every hour
but I got no icon in the systray. There are updates pending (yum in
the command line told so). How do I get kpackagekit working?
Greetings
Martin
