K3b doesn't recognise CD -R disks

It's quite a long time since I needed to burn a CD, rather than a DVD, so I was surprised to find that I had problems. K3b seemed to not see the disks at all. It quite happily burns DVDs and CD-RW disks. I haven't tried a CD +R disk. Do other people find the same thing? Anne -- New to KDE Software? - get help from http://userbase.kde.org

VPN connection?

Is anyone able to connect to a VPN with KDE's Network Management applet? I have entered all of the information for an OpenVPN connection, and it does show up in the right-hand ("Connections") pane of the applet, but clicking on it doesn't appear to do anything. Is there a secret incantation to make it prompt me for my RSA one-time password and attempt to connect? Do I even need to say that this all works just fine with nm-applet? Dolphin v.s. Nautilus

Running a fully updated F15 system. I did a new install on a second HD in the system and left the previous install untouched. When I use GNOME and Nautilus it will detect and display the mountable partitions on old HD, including those in an LVM. One click and the partitions can be mounted. Dolphin, on the other hand, only shows the old /boot partition and not the partitions in the LVM. Also, even though the LVM partitions have been mounted in /media/UUID fashion they are not displayed in Dolphin on the left panel. I could not find any configuration to change the behavior to make it easier to mount/access the drives in KDE. Am I missing something? Thanks, Ed

Fedora 15 Went Fine Until...

I upgraded to Fedora 15 using preupgrade (from 14) yesterday and all went without a hitch. This morning I did a yum update and these updates were applied: akonadi-1.5.3-1.fc15.x86_64 kdelibs-common-4.6.3-5.fc15.x86_64 kdelibs-4.6.3-5.fc15.x86_64 kdepim-4.4.11.1-4.fc15.x86_64 kdepim-libs-4.4.11.1-4.fc15.x86_64 among others. Now I cannot send mail from Kmail. The entire Kmail app freezes up when I attempt to send a message I composed. Anyone else experience similar? -- Garry Williams

Kdepim wouldn't start after update

This morning I did my usual yum update, which gave me two packages - kdebase i686 6:4.6.3-1.fc14 kde 2.9 M kdebase-libs i686 6:4.6.3-1.fc14 kde 284 k After that Kontact wouldn't start. At least, the UI wouldn't. System monitor showed kontact running, but no associated kio slaves. Several attempts at killing it and restarting it failed. The akonadi configurator showed that it had lost connection to the organizer file on my server. I restored that, but it didn't help. After all else failed I reverted the update. Why KPackageKit takes so much time to list the repositories!!

I always use Yum and never tried any graphical tools to install packages. But I was instructing a new user on how to install some packages using KPackagekit the other day. Why does KPackagekit take so much time to do anything at all? When I start it, it tries to: 'Get package categories' which takes a looooong time (I guess that also depends on my internet connection). When I try to see the list of repositories ('Origin of packages' in 'settings'), it takes a looong time too. It seems that KPackagekit will only get the list after the other pending operation is over. How difficult can it be to get a list of repositories? Can't this be fixed? Syam

Virtuoso crash on login

Hi Everyone, Every time I login to my desktop, I see 'virtuoso-opensource' crashing. In Fedora 15 when I 'add clip' which is an .mts file, kdenlive crashes. Should I post to mantis or fedora bugzilla. - Garry
