I currently use t-bird with an nntp account pointing to gmane to read
this list and sereral others. Does kde have an nntp client program of
any sort? I don't see it as a possible new account type in kmail. Also,
search with kpackagekit yields nothing with "usenet" or "nntp" that is
I installed F18 last week, and now when I log in, I get a pop up message
box with the subject as the title. The top line then says "Plasma
requires an additional service for this operation". Then there is an
icon with "script engine" out to the side. Finally, at the bottom, it
says "The following service is required. Do you want to search for this
now?", and a Continue button and a Cancel button. When I click on the
Continue, it comes back with "Failed to search for Plasma service" as
the top line, and a big yellow triangle with "Could not find service in
any configured software source" There is a Close button that deletes
the message box. What is it looking for? What do I do to make it quit
coming up? The only other strange thing that I observe that might
possibly be connected is that when I try to start yumex, it fails with a

Just finished up an initial batch of kde-4.10 builds for fedora 17
(finally). I plan on signing and pushing these to kde-unstable repo
Same warning for these as for the prior f18 builds. These are for early
adopters and testers only. In short, if you don't know how to manually
downgrade things in case of trouble, I'd recommend you not touch this...yet.
Let us know how it goes and what breaks. :)
I have recently been having USB removable drive problems, on plugging in my
camera or USB pen drive the device notifier does not pop up, if I click on the
icon no devices are shown.
Sometimes the pen drive can be accessed and it shows up in the device notifier
but I am asked for my root password:
"Authentication is required to mount /dev/mapper/mpathbp1"
All was fine about a week ago so I guess some update has caused
this problem. Any ideas which packages are related to this as I am puzzled to
what it could be.
This is on F18/KDE-4.10
The devices are seen in dmsg and in kcmshell4 kcmusb..
CD/DVD drive is fine and appear in the device notifier once a disk
is put in.
It might not be KDE related, but I'm not sure. Is anyone else seeing this?
I'll pop over to bugzilla and kde.bugs to see what I can find later on in the

I just did a clean re-install on my hp laptop. I had been running
f18 + kde-4.10.
Now I'm running f18 with stock kde. When I bring up powermon, there's a slider
for brightness. I can move it, but nothing happens. Screen is too dim.
I logged into gnome, and with it's powermonitor, I was able to change
Any ideas? Maybe I should install kde-4.10?
I must have inadvertently changed some setting, but, I've gone through
them over and over and can't find the issue.
Normally, in either app, there's a horizontal bar just below the address
field, that has information columns you can sort on: "Name, type, date
created, etc..." In some folders, these still exist, but in most,
they've disappeared. How do I get them back???

Were there any changes very recently that might effect mouse behaviour?
The reason I ask is that, all of a sudden, I'm seeing lost of double
click responses when I only click once and also things like double
submissions in web forms, etc.
This has only started happening this week.
