KDE 4.10.1 systray issue
by Lester M Petrie
Hi
I updated Fedora 17 to KDE 4.10.1 this morning. It has basically fixed one
issue I have had for about 6 months where I always started in desktop 2.
After updating to 4.10, I am starting in desktop 1 again. The issue with
systray is that I like to have YAWP running, and now it overlaps about 80%
of the systray. This makes it very tricky to select an item from the systray.
Is anyone else seeing something like this, or have a fix for it? Is there
some way to run YAWP without putting it in the systray?

4.10.1 f18
For the 2nd day in a row, I go to work, open my sleeping laptop. Am greeted by
the screen lock. I type 2 letters of my pw, and magically the screen is
unlocked!

Panel translucency question
by Patrick O'Callaghan
With the new 4.10 I find that my only KDE panel has become translucent.
Given that I also have it set to Autohide, this is pretty pointless for
my usage, and frequently the underlying image makes it hard to make out
panel icons and text.
How can I turn off translucency for the panel? There in no option on the
Panel settings. Do I have to change the theme to get this to work the
way I want?

Missing Apps on taskbar scare...
by Ed Greshko
Got a "scare" today and thought I would pass it on in the event anyone happens on the same situation.
I did an update late last night to KDE 4.10. I had previously tested and found no problems. I logged out/in and checked emails and did some surfing but that was about it before heading to bed.
This AM I started doing more work with different apps and I found, to my horror, that when I minimized them they would not appear in the task bar. Brain started thinking, how can I rollback the update.....
The "problem" turned out to be in Task Manger Settings where I found the filter "Only show tasks from the current activity" checked. AFAIK, I'd never checked that.

Question about Akonadi Configuration
by Gerald B. Cox
I looking into linking my Google Account into KMail, Contacts and Calendar
- so I took a look at the Configuration of Akonadi PIM framework under
system settings. I had about thirty instances of the Personal Contacts
agent, 10 Notes Agents, you get the idea. I probably shouldn't have but I
deleted all the duplicates. Now I have the following:
Personal Calendar - Ready
akonadi_googlecontacts_resource_0 - Ready
Personal Contacts - Ready
akonadi_akonotes_resource_0 - Ready
akonadi_akonotes_resource_1 - Ready
akonadi_akonotes_resource_2 - Ready
Notes - Ready
Active Alarms - Ready
Archived Alarms - Ready
Alarm Templates - Ready
Default Address Book - No file Selected
Local Folders - Ready
My question is why all the duplicates, were they needed? Do I need three
akonotes_resources? I did do some google searches to try to figure what
was going on, but couldn't really find anything. Just trying to understand
this stuff a bit...
Thanks in advance for any enlightenment. ;-)

KDE 4.10.1 for F17 needs your karma
by Kevin Kofler
Hi,
if you have tested the KDE (software compilation) 4.10.1 packages for Fedora
17 (no matter whether you got them directly from updates-testing or from
kde-testing, the packages are the same in both cases) and they worked well
for you, please give positive karma at:
https://admin.fedoraproject.org/updates/FEDORA-2013-3667
(Please authenticate with a valid Fedora Account System (FAS) account if
possible, so that the karma point is actually counted.)
We need at least 2 karma points to be able to push the update!
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation,
Kevin Kofler
PS: Yes, this karma system sucks, I've always said it. :-)

Unauthenticated user can modify the background in a widget-lock-screen
by Gilboa Davara
Hello all,
While testing 4.10/f17 I decided to try out the new lock screen.
The widget lock screen is indeed nice, but there's a major security issue:
An unauthenticated user can access the lock-screen setting and change the
background. (cashew->settings).
Anyone else seeing this?
What are the chances that this is not an upstream bug? (Low, I would
imagine)

About this:
> LibAtticaConfig.cmake
> libattica-config.cmake
I made a "locate LibAtticaConfig.cmake && locate
libattica-config.cmake" and nothing there isn't any file in my
filesystem named like those, just
"/usr/share/kde4/apps/cmake/modules/FindLibAttica.cmake".
So What should I do to make it?

Problem with Nepomuk
by Eli Wapniarski
I'm seem to be having another problem with 4.10.1
When I try to do a search for an email with Kontact I get an error
message dialog box that reads.
The Nepomuk semantic search service is not available. Searching is not
possible without it. You can enable it in "System Settings".
Nepomuk seems to be running and so is virtuoso-t.
Any ideas??
Eli
