Amarok wikipedia applet not working
by Syam Krishnan
Hi
Ever since I installed F22, I don't remember the Wikipedia applet on
Amarok to work. By 'not working', I mean it doesn't show anything.
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=349313
Anybody seeing this? The developer seems to suspect some updated package
that broke Amarok. Is there any package that might do this? A web
content control?

Restarting selected apps
by Patrick O'Callaghan
This morning I updated my system as usual (using dnf on F22) and one of
the packages changed was xapian-core-libs. Dnf suggested I manually
restart baloo_file and dolphin. Two thoughts:
1) Given that baloo_file is started automatically, I don't know how to
restart it
manually. Just executing the command gives:
$ baloo_file
Bananana Error
Serious Error:
Error opening table `/home/poc/.local/share/baloo/file//termlist.':
Unable to read revision from /home/poc/.local/share/baloo/file//termlist.baseA
Unable to read revision from /home/poc/.local/share/baloo/file//termlist.baseB
DatabaseOpeningError: Error opening table `/home/poc/.local/share/baloo/file//termlist.':
Unable to read revision from /home/poc/.local/share/baloo/file//termlist.baseA
Unable to read revision from /home/poc/.local/share/baloo/file//termlist.baseB
I've no idea what any of that means. In fact I have only a vague idea
that baloo has something to do with desktop search, a facility I
absolutely never use. The only time I ever hear from it is when
crashes, which is several times a day. Removing it would only seem to
remove a bunch of kde-pim apps which I don't use either. Is this safe?
2) Dolphin is part of my normal session start-up, so there must be a
record of how I want it to look without me having to kill it and
recreate the various windows by hand (or log out and in again). It
would be nice to be able to do that via a Plasma menu or even a Shell
command. Does anyone think this is worth an RFE?

digikam/kmail in kde4 EL7 COPR
by Orion Poplawski
Rex -
Would you might building digikam in your kde4 copr? The version of digikam
in epel requires older libraries that are superseded by your copr.
Also - kmail requires spambayes which appears to be gone. It would be nice
if the kdepim splits made it to the copr so I didn't need to have kmail installed.
Thanks!

Re: GTK3 theme in KDE on F22

OK, in that case, you'll likely need to uninstall xsettings-kde since it will (likely?) interfere with kcm-gtk-config

I installed kde-gtk-config, which shows in systemsettings5, and has more
features.
"kcmshell4 gtk" only allows to select a single gtk+ theme, and only
shows gtk2 themes (in my case oxygen-gtk and Raleigh).
If xsettings-kde gets its value from there, it will only work properly
for the users who want to use the same theme for both gtk versions.
I prefer keeping oxygen-gtk2 (so at least some gtk applications are
properly integrated in KDE), so I have to choose something else for gtk3.

GTK font sizes
by Ed Greshko
Is there anyway to control the font size of GTK+ applications in the new plasma5 environment?
Use to be in system-settings within fonts you checked that GTK+ applications should use the KDE settings but that no longer exists. Also, if you go into GNOME and use gnome-tweak-tool you can change the settings but they are not picked up going back to KDE.
Would like to make my fonts in T-bird just a little be larger.

Which kcm are you using?
kcmshell4 gtk ?
(that's the one we ship and recommend by default)

Subject: GTK3 theme in KDE on F22
Hi,
On my F22 installation, gtk3 apps ignore the gtk3 theme I set in the
kcm, and always use Adwaita.
The kcm seems to set "gtk-theme-name" in ~/.config/gtk-3.0/settings.ini.
When I use strace on gtk3-demo for example, I see the ini file is
opened, but it only tries to open ~/.config/gtk-3.0/gtk.css (missing),
then /usr/share/themes/oxygen-gtk/gtk-*/gtk.css.
If I kill the xsettings-kde process, then the correct theme is used
(many seems to be half broken, but this isn't due to KDE...).
It probably sets oxygen-gtk since I'm using Oxygen in KDE, but since
gtk3.16 removed the theme engine support there is no oxygen-gtk3 any more.
Unless there is an option to tell gtk to prefer settings from
settings.ini, perhaps xsettings-kde should read the theme from
kde-gtk-settings and only guess from the KDE theme if the value is the
default one.
There is another issue with the icon theme : when using Oxygen the
toolbar icons are very big (32x32, instead of 24x24 with Adwaita).
I created a GTK bug (https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=751411).

Window redraw issues after latest Kf5 updates
by Patrick O'Callaghan
This morning I updated my F22 system (only stable Fedora repos), which
included multiple Kf5 packages. After rebooting, I find that window
redraws are frequently messed up. This happens both on switching
desktops and simply raising a window on an existing desktop.
Occasionally the switching process leaves traces of the previous
desktop on the new one, and windows are only partially redrawn. Both
switching and raising are accompanied by rapid flashing between the old
and new states for a fraction of a second before settling down.
I have an Nvidia graphics card, using the Nouveau driver.
AFAIK Kwin was not one of the updated packages. I used to be able to
look at /var/log/yum.log or run "yum history" to check, but dnf has
changed all that though no doubt it's still possible somehow (the dnf
manual is a model of obscurity on this point).

Re: Thousands of Empty E-mail Messages Created After Update
by Rex Dieter
kmail is still a kde4 app, so should (theoretically) be unaffected by anything kf5-related.
Not that helps the solve it, just that most likely the installation of those kf5- updates is unrelated.

Subject: Thousands of Empty E-mail Messages Created After Update
Wow.
After an update, I now cannot allow Kmail to run because it creates
empty messages in my Gmail account constantly. There were a zillion
kf5-* packages updated, so I have no idea what got updated that I
should try to find a downgrade for.
This bug:
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=348103
seems to match my problem.
Has anyone else seen this? Or am I the only user still using Kmail?
