Bluetooth battery levels
by Patrick O'Callaghan
Recently I had to log into Gnome 3 (don't ask) and noticed to my
surprise that the Bluetooth widget showed the remaining battery charge
on my mouse.
Anyway, is there a way to do this in KDE? I'd also be interested in
reading the level on my BT headphones.

Frequent crashes in kdeinit5
by Patrick O'Callaghan
I often find that kdeinit5 reports a crash when I log out. Today the
same thing happened when I right-clicked on a window title and selected
Special Window Settings (the crash happened when I closed the pop-up).
The error says:
We are sorry, kdeinit5 closed unexpectedly.
You cannot report this error, because kdeinit5 does not provide a bug reporting address.
Details:
Executable: kdeinit5 PID: nnnn: Aborted (6) Time dd.mm.yyyy hh:mm:ss
There is a "Debug" option which fails thus:
Reading symbols from /usr/bin/kdeinit5...Reading symbols from /usr/lib/debug/usr/bin/kdeinit5.debug...done.
done.
Attaching to program: /usr/bin/kdeinit5, process 9024
ptrace: Operation not permitted.
(gdb)
So we have:
1) No way to copy the error text except manually, which I just did.
2) No bug reporting address.
3) Failing gdb, presumably because kdeinit5 runs as root and not the
actual user.
I had previously added a comment to
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=349651, but I'm not sure that's
even the right bug report. Suggestions welcome.

Lagging behavior
by Ed Greshko
I can't predict when this will happen and I've not been able to capture any meaningful information. But has anyone seen the following?
At times I click on a tab in a browser, or click on the calendar tab of thunderbird, or type in a konsole window and nothing happens. Then as soon as I change to another window, the click I've previously done takes effect. I have "focus Under Mouse" set and "raise on hover" set.

<nod>, copr needs to build a newer kactivities-5.11 (I'll queue that now)
I'm not 100% certain about the bluez/bluedevil situation, I'll have to look closer

Subject: Re: dvratil-plasma-5 on f21: dependency problems
Investigating myself, the problems seem to be:
fedora-updates-21 does not have kf5-kactivities-0:5.11.0-1 (only devel
and libs); dvratil-plasma-5-21 is behind and has them at 0:5.10.0-1
fedora-updates-21 has bluedevil-0:2.1.4 and kf5-bluez-qt-0:5.11.0-1;
dvratil-plasma-5-21 has bluedevil-0:5.3.1-1 and kf5-bluez-qt-0:5.3.1-1
So the fedora-updates update on kf5 is missing one package; and
bluedevil/kf5-bluez-qt seem to mixed old/new resp. new/new un updates
resp. dvratil.

dvratil-plasma-5 on f21: dependency problems
by Michael J Gruber
Hi,
there seem to be some inconsistencies regarding kf5-activities from
fedora-updates (f21) and the copr repo, see below.
What's the best way to get that f21 box into a consistent state before
fedupping to f22? Remove the copr repo for plasma 5 or leave it? Switch
to dnf from yum?

Subject: KDEINIT5 Crashes on "Special Window Settings"
So I just upgraded from F21 to F22, and amongst the myriad of issues
(e.g.: system tray woes), the main frustrating one, is a KDEINIT5 crash
when I am trying to have Pidgin, Konsole, or any application actually,
present on all virtual desktops.
Right click on a window's title bar/top border. Select "More actions"
and "Special Window Settings..." and I just get a "We are sorry,

because kdeinit5 (deleted) does not provide a bug reporting address.

What's the best place to look for things like this? Ideally KDE/Plasma
branded (not Fedora-specific). I'd love to have a button-down

F22 comments
by Patrick O'Callaghan
Just installed F22 using fedup from F21. See the Users list for a
couple of general comments. Regarding KDE:
1) The Plasma session restore bug is still present.
2) SDDM is still broken (no gnome-key support) so I use KDM. Luckily it
still works on F22.
3) I get a crash report on each login from kf5-kactivities. I have no
use for Activies in Plasma but the package can't be removed because of
Plasma dependencies.

newbie questions
by Sérgio Basto
Hi,
I need to be sure. In Fedora 22 with plasma 5 , is not possible start
up kde-plasma 4 ? or use plasmoids for plasma 4 ?
I'm looking for smb4k.spec [1], I have done a
sub-package kde-plasma-smb4k , but is not useful on Fedora 22 , isn't
it ?
Another question to build packages for plasma 5 , we need BuildRequires:
kdelibs5-devel or what ?
[1] http://pkgs.fedoraproject.org/cgit/smb4k.git/tree/smb4k.spec
Thanks,
