Looking over some broken deps reports, I came across some old packages: kdebindings smokeqt smokekde qyoto (csharp/mono) kimono (csharp/mono) ruby-qt ruby-korundum perl-Qt Of these, the only one that's not a pure leaf package is perl-Qt (debconf- kde depends on it). any comment or objection to considering orphaning most (all minus smokeqt/perl-Qt) or all of these ? -- Rex

nntp (aka, usenet) client in kde?

I currently use t-bird with an nntp account pointing to gmane to read this list and sereral others. Does kde have an nntp client program of any sort? I don't see it as a possible new account type in kmail. Also, search with kpackagekit yields nothing with "usenet" or "nntp" that is kde specific. -gene

Emacs key binding in KDE Plasma 5?

Just moved from Fedora 21 to F25. Under F21 I had a file ~/.gtkrc-2.0 which contained gtk-key-theme-name = "Emacs" This enabled basic Emacs cursor motion keyboard commands in text input boxes throughout KDE, Firefox, &c. (Outside of input boxes, KDE shortcuts ruled.) How can I get this same behaviour for Plasma 5 w/in F25? From reading around, I've created ~/.config/gtk-3.0/settings.ini and inserted [Settings] gtk-key-theme-name = Emacs in this empty file. This has given the desired result in Firefox and Thunderbird, but not w/in arbitrary text boxes in KDE (e.g. Alt-F2). The ~/.gtkrc-2.0 file is still intact, by the way. It seems to have no effect. Any ideas? -Sherman

Usability issue, newly installed Fedora KDE plasma

Hi there. I recently decided to try out Fedora, and installed it on my desktop computer. It has multiple sound cards, and I blogged about the process here: http://blogologue.com/frames?url=http://blogologue.com/blog_entry?id=150616… Today I looked around in the system settings menu, and found that I could set the preferred sound device there. Wouldn't it be a bit easier for a novice user to configure the preferred sound device from the sound panel in the taskbar? At least to begin with. And sound settings is easier to understand than "multimedia". Announcing kannolo-root-unlocker (also works on Fedora KDE)

Hi, since both KDE upstream and the Fedora KDE SIG refuse to fix the regression that Dolphin, KWrite, and Kate can no longer be run as root, I have decided to write a small metapackage that automatically applies the binary patch to fix the issue. The patch that is applied is the 's/getuid/getpid/g' hack, see: https://www.spinics.net/linux/fedora/fedora-kde/msg19018.html for an explanation of how it works. The patched executables are written to /usr/local/bin. The metapackage uses file triggers so that the patched version is automatically updated when the original copy in /usr/bin is updated from the system package. While it would be possible in principle with this method to apply the patches in place in /usr/bin, I have decided against it, for 2 reasons: 1. integrity checks such as rpm -Va would fail on the patched executables, and 2. delta RPMs would fail because the original RPM could not be reconstructed. Writing the patched executables to a different directory avoids this issue. After installing this package, e.g., "kdesu kwrite" should just work again. White spaces in Kmail (dark themes)

Hi, After the recent updates of qt5-qtwebengine there are white spaces in the message window when using a Dark Theme. Another user has just reported this on kde.bugs with a screen shot https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=379406 I don't know if it is a kmail or qtwebengine bug or even related to mesa/ nouveau saga. F26: Konqueror / SMB -> client max protocol = SMB3 == broken

it's laughable enough that you need to add "client max protocol = SMB3" to your /etc/samba/smb.conf with F25 or you get SMB1 connetions but that you need to comment that line out in F26 can't be taken serious at least Konqueror asks now for username password dolphin hangs there waiting for whatever _____________________ well, where my manually stored passwords gone is another question KDE Wallet Manager (wow and i should not call it KDE) version 2.0 "using KDE Development Platform 4.14.32" should still be the old wallet are you kidding me?

fine, now it's "ported" to KDE5 * no bookmarks * no toolbar settings from the previous install * no support for sftp:// * no passwords for network-locations previously used WTF is wrong with the KDE developers attitude that the main question due every upgrde is "curious what they broke now from my workflow"

F26: Konqueror and SVN integration

until F26 in the action menu there was besides the basic integration a contextmenu containing such nice things like "seek for all unversioned items" or "show last 100 changes" which never appeared in dolphin from where did that come and how doe sone get that back? both are essential, especially "show all unversioned files" after bigger refactoring in a source tree to make sure everything keeps versioned [root@srv-rhsoft:~]$ rpm -qa | grep -i subversion subversion-kde-1.9.7-1.fc26.x86_64 subversion-1.9.7-1.fc26.x86_64 subversion-libs-1.9.7-1.fc26.x86_64

30 seconds to log in to Plasma on F26

On a new Fedora 26 installation, I am seeing a delay of around 30 seconds when logging into a Plasma session. (This delay doesn't exist on F25 on this system.) Display bug of programs using qt5-qtquickcontrols2 5.9.1

Hello, On Fedora 27, the programs using qt5-qtquickcontrols2 do not display icon or text at all. There are very few programs using qt5-qtquickcontrols2, one of them is plasma- dicover: https://i.imgpile.com/n9ZG3C.png Notice the lack of caption on the "Install" buttons. Another program that makes a heavy use of qt5-qtquickcontrols2 is Orion, a Twitch client which I provide on COPR (https://copr.fedorainfracloud.org/ coprs/eclipseo/orion/): https://i.imgpile.com/n9ZxwS.png The interface doesn't contain any icon on the lateral bar or any text under the pictures. Manual IPv6 configuration.

Hi, Using F26, fully updated. I cannot seem to be able to get manual configuration to work. No matter what I enter the "apply" button remains gray. Has anyone tried this? I had to resort to using GNOME to get this working. Ed -- Fedora Users List - The place to go to speculate endlessly

Accessability Setting - Keyboard Filters - Bounce Keys

Hello all - hope you can help me understand if this is a standard KDE behaviour or not; F26 - Kernel 4.12.9-300. The Bounce Keys setting in KDE under Accessability Settings -> Keyboard filters only goes down to a minimum of 100 msec. I have a crappy keyboard with chatter on a couple of keys and have used the Gnome bounce keys setting to set it as low as 5 msec. That lets me use the keyboard for typing and gaming. I know this is from Xbouncekeys or whatever that utility is called, but I can't figure out how to set it outside of the DE or why KDE only lets me take it down to 100 msec. Any advice/thoughts is appreciated. Thanks, Zach

Odd vi behavior

All; As of the latest updates on Fedora 26 (KDE spin) every time I vi a new empty file I see this at the top: $q q If I do a <Ctl>-L to refresh it goes away, I sometimes see it at the top of the window when I vi a existing file. I can deal with it but it's a nuisance, anyone else seeing this? Thanks in advance
