It's time for a Fedora 41 blocker review meeting! We have 1 proposed blocker and 1 proposed freeze exception for Beta, and 2 proposed blockers for Final. Deleting widgets

I can't work out how to remove a widget from a Plasma panel. Right- clicking shows me how to add panels, add widgets, change the theme etc., but not how to delete a widget I don't want. Has this changed since Plasma 5? poc

The 'right' answer might be another one, however, here's my attempt: I'm not at all sure it is that obvious. If you right click the language flag on the task bar and then Configure Keyboard Layout -> General -> Layouts Configure you'll notice that the Switching Policy allows to chose any one of Global, Desktop, Application, Window. Although I've never used any other than Global, I think that you might have a different keyboard layout for every desptop, window, application.... So depending on how you saved sessions or start with a default, you might see a different keyboard in various places. And the default one would be the first one in your list of layouts, or the last saved. It's just my guess - I haven't tested it before answering. Iosif Fettich

I use two keyboard settings, GB and GBI (respectfully UK English and UK English International), and have a shortcut for switching between them. However on login the setting is invariably GBI and I often forget to switch until I have to type an apostrophe (which becomes an accent dead key in GBI). I know this must be very obvious, but how can I ensure that KDE starts up with the GB setting? poc

F40 Progress with nvidia 470xx

I have posted earlier about this driver, which is not claimed to support wayland. It seemed to me that the kde support group, in abandoning x11, had chosen to create a dev-playground with little commitment to user-support. After almost-daily dnf upgrades my F40-only box does now appear to be usable with the low-end nvidia GT710 hardware and the xorg-x11-drv-nvidia-470xx package from the rpmfusion-nonfree-updates-testing repo. This is true only if I install plasma-workspace-x11 and choose the plasma-x11 desktop. Choosing plasma-wayland looks workable but fills /tmp with plasmashell crash reports. At present my grub command line gives nouveau, without hardware decoding, following the rpmfusion nvidia howto. This is ok for me, but maybe a different grub line could restore hardware support. I haven't recently experimented with my Windows 10 dual-boot box, with a similar video card. Last time I tried it, it consistently froze quite late in the boot sequence. HTH, John P
