If nouveau delivers reasonable performance, I hope to switch. I tried
nouveau first on f12, but when I tried to play an hd video, and it just
about killed my machine, I switch to nvidia.
Because of this discussion, I just tried it again. I switched back to
nouveau (which is _much_ more trouble than it should be), and then tried
playing some videos. In full screen mode, both vlc and kaffeine showed
tearing in nouveau, but not in nvidia. For me, nouveau is still
unacceptable.
