I was having this same problem after updating, no border except a thin line.
I tried changing the width, but nothing happened.
It wasn't until I switched from breeze to plastik that my borders
changed to something normal.
And when I switched back to breeze, the borders stayed normal, and
changing the width actually changed the width.
Looks like it might have something to do with updating.
But thanks for having this conversation so I thought of switching to plastik.
