There seems to be no dependencies of PackageKit for dnfdragora. However if one doesn't have PackKit installed dnfdragora will not show up in the systray.
At login time I get a notification popup from dnfdragora that updates are available but it doesn't exist in the systray.
If I install PackageKit, reboot, and login I get the notification popup and a dnfdragora icon in the systray where I can right click and pick Update.
Smells like a bug to me.

The default updater does not come from dnfdragora, it is plasma-pk-updates, which is based on PackageKit.
If you want to use the dnfdragora updater, install the dnfdragora-gui package. (I already requested that it be renamed dnfdragora-updater: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1448812)

Ahhh - that's a good hint. I actually wondered what the deal was with the -gui package - as I already have a gui with dnfdragora.
Thanks for the tip.

I have....
[egreshko@f26-rc15k ~]$ rpm -qa | grep dnfdra dnfdragora-1.0.1-5.git20170505.2a3b056.fc26.noarch dnfdragora-gui-1.0.1-5.git20170505.2a3b056.fc26.noarch
installed on the system.
If I login without PackageKit installed I get a dnfdragora popup that tells me 117 Updates are available and after a short time it disappears. I have to manually start the dnfdragora gui in order to start the update process.
If I then install PackageKit and login I get a dnfdragora popup that tells me 117 Updates are available *AND* a dnf icon appears in the systray and I can pick "Update" from there to start the update process.
