FWIW, I think I have to copy /usr/lib/udev/rules.d/69-libmtp.rules to /etc/udev/rules.d/
and manipulate
it in fashion such that the host doesn't grab it. At least as a workaround for not
having a way to release it.
Hmm. I haven't tried connecting a phone so presumably the existence of
that rules file mean they are treated specially.
