Thanks for the responses.
It's definitely still alive so PLEASE don't ignore it.
This problem has just appeared with version 4.0 which was released about a year ago.
The problem also seems to have appeared in Fedora 40 and this version of konsole "konsole5-23.08.3-1.fc40.x86_64 : KDE Terminal emulator". The problem now appears in multiple versions of "the" and multiple versions of "ncurses".
I have been using it for quite a few years (since at least 1995) without this kind of problem.
Best regards,
George...

Hi,
For some time now I have seen a problem with "the".
It seems to happen with earlier versions of "the" and ncurses.
The test setup:
make 2 tabs in a konsole widget. This problem DOES NOT APPEAR in xterms. enter the <any file name> in a konsole tab. switch to another tab or anywhere else switch back the has exited (after entering NO commands). the exits unless the file under edit has been changed. In this case, the last line in the file is the "current" line.
this problem seems to be exhibited regardless of "the" version and/or "ncurses" version.
The problem appears as if the quit command and others has been entered. No such command has been entered though.
Have you seen anything like this? Could it be a konsole config issue?
Best regards,
George...

Never heard of something called THE and it doesn't seem to be in the standard repos (I looked for 'the', 'THE' and 'hessing' with no results). What is this?

Thanks. I'll ignore it then.

As I mentioned previously, this doesn't appear to be in the standard repos. Where did you get it? Presumably it has Bug URL, which the package info would tell you about. That might be a better place to report this.
<rant> PLEASE don't reply to message digests. Your reply is completely detached from the original thread because it doesn't follow the normal header conventions. Simply editing the Subject line is not enough.
(Also, you quoted the entire digest, which tends to happen when people top-post).
If you must use digests, then use your mail client to reply to the specific message. Most modern MUAs can do this and will preserve the correct headers.
Better still: don't use digests. They are an obsolete kludge from the days of UUCP and dial-up modems and with always-on connectivity they really make no sense. </rant>
