I'm running Fedora-21/KDE on my laptop. The window I'm watching frequently disintegrates into 8 separate windows, corresponding to my 8 virtual desktops. I know this is caused by moving the mouse into some area. But I cannot think of any occasion when it would actually help.
Is there any way of turning this facility off?

System Settings -> Workspace Behavior -> Screen Edges

Thanks. In my view there are far too many choices in KDE, and in other browsers. I think there should be an "advanced" option for those who want the full works.
They have (or did have) a Minister for Simplification in Italy. I'd like to see something similar in KDE.

no, no and no again
if you want a simple thing without chices just use GNOME but don't propose damage KDE because you are overwhelmed with choices

Honestly in this case like in others it is more a question of the default then of the options available.
As far as I read what you wrote above your problem is with the option being the default and not so much with the option being available.
IMHO after kde 4.x (x>1) the options are reasonably laid in out in kde's "System Settings" and easy to find using the search box. I am happily running 5.2.2 here. :-)
Also I think that your reference to the Simplification Minister refers to the _Administrative_ Simplification. Fortunately we don't need to fill any form to change an option in kde. :-D

Then you're using the wrong desktop. KDE is for people who want those choices and are willing to learn how to use them. And btw, KDE is not a browser.

Switch to something like GNOME or XFCE, then. You have a choice.
