OK, initial batch of kde-4.5.80 (4.6beta1) builds are in kde-unstable repos.
These still cause a handful of broken deps due to abi changes, which I'm slowly working through. The ones I know about include: kde-plasma-yawp (ftbfs) koffice (building now) many sip-related bits (including, PyQt3, PyKDE3, avogadro, among others)

I can provide the full output if needed. I am excluding glibc because of the memcpy fiasco for the moment but i don't think that has any bearing on this.

Sorry. I should have done that from the start actually.
fpaste doesn't seem to like the output of yum -v but that also shows the problem nice and clearly.

Hi Rex,
Thanks for the builds. Can I use them whilst retaining kdepim 4.4.7 or will that produce problems?
thanks M.

Seems to be working great for me in general. Kdevelop users should be aware that the current version does't work with KDE 4.6. Currently i get this message when i start kdevelop and then it closes.
"The installed Kate version does not support the SmartInterface which is crucial forKDevelop up to and including version 4.1.
To use KDevelop with KDE SC 4.6, where the SmartInterface is replaced by the MovingInterface, you need KDevelop 4.2 or higher."

A few problems, can anybody else confirm?
1. Missing dependency for kmymoney

2. I use automatic login and the name of the KDE session (picked from kdm) changed. So on the first boot after upgrade I had to select the new name from the login screen.
3. Search capability is back in klipper but that bug were it won't lose focus in back, somewhat. You can the Esc key to get rid of the kilpper popup after making a selection with the keyboard, but hitting Enter doesn't make the popup go away. Using the mouse works fine.

Just upgraded.
I can confirm the problem on first login - a message "Your saved session 'kde' is not valid. etc" - bug to file with kdm?
Smooth-tasks causes plasma to crash and stay crashed (https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=258026). Can be worked around by commenting out the smooth-tasks section in .kde/share/config/plasma-desktop-appletsrc and logging back in.
Kmail/Akregator 4.4.8 seems to work just fine.
Otherwise seems good - thanks Rex.
Does anyone know if kdepim 4.5.80 still makes a complete copy of any local maildirs? (Don't have the disk space to risk it if it still does).
Cheers M.

Yep, the brief time I tested 4.5.80 I saw this error, sadly I had to roll back to 4.5.3 as pim was also causing too many problems.
I must get a "test machine" one of these days..

Another weird issue. On once of my workstation, right click menus no longer show icons. The only icon related log message .xsession-errors is: "Object::connect: No such slot AbstractItemView::iconSettingsChanged()"
Before I report it, anyone else seeing it?

OK, initial batch of kde-4.5.80 (4.6beta1) builds are in kde-unstable repos.
These still cause a handful of broken deps due to abi changes, which I'm slowly working through. The ones I know about include: kde-plasma-yawp (ftbfs) koffice (building now) many sip-related bits (including, PyQt3, PyKDE3, avogadro, among others)

While I'm at it, against which component should I report it?

Also getting lots of amarok crashes - first time it did start playing before crashing, now crashes everytime.
Commandline output is: *** glibc detected *** amarok: free(): invalid pointer: 0x0000000003d0d380 *** KCrash: Application 'amarok' crashing... KCrash: Attempting to start /usr/libexec/kde4/drkonqi from kdeinit
dr konqi doesn't start though.
anyone else seeing this? M.
