I run 6 "Virtual Desktops" and in the "Pager Settings" I have
"Different Widgets for each Desktop" checked.  Now, I like to
create "Link to applications" (a.k.a. icons?) of different sorts
on each desktop.  As it is, whenever I create a link on a given
desktop it appears on all desktops.

I have yet to find a way to have a different set of icons on each
workspace.  I that somehow possible?

Possible solution is to add 'Folder view' widget on each desktop and point each one into a folder eg:

Desktop 1 => ~/Desktops/1/ Desktop 2 => ~/Desktops/2/ ... Desktop n => ~/Desktops/n/

then add desktop icon or copy/create a .desktop file using Dolphin in each folder.

That works.... A bit laborious....but it works...
