We discussed many times about the set of applications available by default on the live ISO.

I extracted the list of default programs available on the live images of Fedora 27 beta for Workstation edition (from the Activities overview) and KDE spin (from the Application Launcher).

Few data points:

= Gnome: 39 unique items complete list: see the attached f27_beta_workstation_all.txt

= Plasma: 71 unique items, but 83 total (some in different categories) complete list: see the attached f27_beta_kde_all.txt

24 items have a one-o-one mapping between the two sets.

There are two different issues that should be solved separately: 1) reduce the number of unique items 2) reduce the duplication

I'm not sure how to properly address the point 2), as the menu spec allows applications to be in different categories. I'm not even sure that it is a real issue for the testing, so I will leave it out for now.

Regarding poing 1), based also on the previous discussions on IRC, you can find below few initial proposals:
