KWallet is behaving strangely for me... it waits until I try to send an
email to ask for the wallet password. For awhile I thought it was causing
my Chrome password issues, but I figured out that it was asking for the
GMail password to sync my Chrome.
Seriously, though... WTF is up with KWallet now? I just upgraded to F15 a
couple weeks ago and now it's not working like it "should"?!?!?!?! I have
it configured as follows:
1) It is enabled
2) Close when last application using it closes
3) Show in System tray
3b)Hide system tray icon when last wallet closes
Access Control:
1) Prompt when an application accesses an open wallet.
WHAT in there says "don't ask for the password until I specifically try to
access a password"???? How do I configure it to open the wallet with KMail
like it used to?

but I always assumed that was what it did, and was meant to do?

If you store your wireless connection password in KWallet, you'll be
prompted for the wallet password as soon as the network management plasmoid
autoconnects to your wireless network.
It should also be possible to open the wallet from a script through the D-
Bus interface (use qdbus).

Well, it *used* to ask for the unlock password when I first fired up KMail.
Now it waits until I'm trying to send a message to ask for the unlock
password. Kinda like "Oh, hey... I'm supposed to unlock...what's the
password???"

Nope... no wireless on this machine. Wired only. What I *want* is the
"old"
behavior -- i.e. I open KMail and it immediately asks for the keyring
password. I don't WANT it to wait until I go to send email. Hell, it
*should* ask for the password when I first open it because about the first
thing I do is check for new messages on my IMAP account. But nooo... it has
to wait until I want to *send* a message! How messed up is THAT????

errrrr, just a question - in your KMail options, right there below
the window, there's a box that says "Check mail on startup" - do
you have that checked?

No, because I have more than one email account and I do NOT want to check
them all at startup, for a very good reason. One is a hybrid IMAP/POP3
account. If I POP my email, I can't view it via imap and move some of the
junk that gets through the filters to the "held mail" folder on the server
where I can then report it (SpamCop.net account.) I also have a POP3
account with my ISP that I rarely check, because I don't use that account
much.
I also have my work email configured on here, and I'd be happy to check it
on startup, except I can't select ONE account to check on startup. I just
filed a feature request on that this afternoon...

you could deal with your wish to leave messages on your IMAP
server, perhaps, though I'm not sure whether 'Leave messages on
server' works the same way for IMAP as for POP
I have 7 email accounts, and around 2k messages a day I deal with.
I don't have any IMAP accounts configured as such, though I could.
So, different needs - I was just suggesting in case you'd
overlooked that setting

No... I *do* want to remove them from the server, but I want to go over
them via IMAP /FIRST/ so I can weed out any junk messages that the filters
missed. THEN I want to pop the email. Besides, it doesn't appear that
checking email via IMAP triggers the wallet for some reason.

Maybe your provider has a webmail interace. Just start a browser, log in to
your webmail account, sift the junk, log out, close the browser, and download
the good mail into kmail.
