someobdy may create a file and test to rename it in the way put date/time at the begin
"this-is-a-really-dmaned-long-filename-2012_10_04_20_09.txt"
how can anybody imagine that this has a better usability in a inline-input where you have to scroll left/right
before 4.9 there was a option for konqueror to restore the old behavior, folderview did ignore it and was unuseable
for folderview this becomes even worser than for konqueror because you have filenames over multiple lines because the lack of a list-view ______________
MANY YEARS I LAUGHED ABOUT WINDOWS
why? because they had a inline rename while the kde way was so much more user friendly to see now that kde goes the same unuseable way :-(
DEAR DEVELOPERS: do not fix things that ain't broken

If you are using KDE 4.9.2, then you can put:
RenameInline=false
in the [General] section of $KDEHOME/share/config/dolphinrc. See https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=304627#c15 and http://freininghaus.wordpress.com/2012/10/02/dolphin-bug-fixes-in-kde-4-9-2/. -- Christian González G. http://chgonzalez.blogspot.com http://twitter.com/chgonzalez

thank you very much!
bad sign that i had to EXPLICITLY this in a no no longer available option to see it removed from the config after a update
however, this does NOT fix the INCONSISTENCY of folderview where this is even worser because the usually smaller width
i will never undrstand how can "elegance" more important than usability :-(
