Hi,
I have screen flickering issue under Plasma 5. They only go away on reboot. Any Idea what might be causing them. I use Intel graphics card.
Screencast of the issue:- https://cloud.wyffy.com/index.php/s/TeZXFYYt8ULi4zU

SimpleScreenRecorder wasn't able to capture enough flickering (will remove the other video). Here's another one with lots of flickering.

well, it happens sometimes on my IvyBridge but not that terrible that i would give a damn about it and kill my session
usually you DO NOT need to reboot to solve GUI problems up to the terrible memleaks of KDE5, just logout and login again

I did try kquitapp5 plasmashell and also restarting session. As far as I can tell that didn't help. I will try it again.

I would investigate something on the driver and compositing system. What are the settings for Compositor, which driver?
Ciao

Both are defaults shipped by Fedora 23 KDE.
rpm -qa | grep intel xorg-x11-drv-intel-2.99.917-16.20150729.fc23.x86_64
Compositor - OpenGL 2.0/GLX

If I remember correctly, depending on the Intel generation, you could have more (or less) fortune trying different combination of OpenGL 2.0 vs OpenGL 3.1 and EGL vs GLX.
Ciao

FIRST: whenever you change compositor-settings - logout and login again, i have seen repeatly bad effects like a black rectangle in the size of the window of a starting application and all sort of flickerings by only apply changes and after restart the session all that bad things went away
EGL is horrible unstable with the xorg-x11-drv-intel-2.99.917-16.20150729.fc23.x86_64 on IvyBrdige/SandyBridge
GLX / OpenGL 3.1 works best here
in december the was a xorg-x11-drv-intel wokring fine with EGL but crashing X everytime you played a video with VLC
did not try EGL with the "xorg-x11-drv-intel-2.99.917-19.20151206.fc23.x86_64" i have currently running from koji

driver issue: https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=91393
For me, the primary trigger is suspend/resume

Thanks. I will have to see if I can trigger it with suspend/resume cycle. I have noticed that I get screen flickering when my system is super hot like around 97C when if it is left for too long it shuts itself down.
I also have to figure out why my screen freezes intermittently at least 5 times a day with error "Desktop effects were restarted due to a graphics reset."

that may be casued by the ridiculous CPU usage of the "plasmashell" process all day long, currently htop shows between 25% and 50% on a Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-3770 CPU @ 3.40GHz which is unacceptable
luckily the HP desktop has a perfect airflow
