Bug ID: 1596811 Summary: Broadcom BCM4352 No Wifi Adapter Found Product: Fedora Version: 28 Component: kmod Severity: medium Assignee: kmod-maint@lists.fedoraproject.org Reporter: servantofjesus@protonmail.com QA Contact: extras-qa@fedoraproject.org CC: jonathan@jonmasters.org, kmod-maint@lists.fedoraproject.org, skozina@redhat.com, ykaliuta@redhat.com
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Fedora; Linux x86_64; rv:61.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/61.0 Build Identifier:
I am using a Dell Precision M4800 that comes with a Broadcom BCM4352 Wireless adapter. When I open settings and go to WiFi, it tells me "No Wifi Adapter Found"
Running lspci shows the adapter in the list, so it is being detected by the system.
I have installed the broadcom-wl, akmod-wl, & kmod-wl drivers.
Currently running 4.17.2 will all the latest stable updates from Fedora & RPMFusion. No Testing updates.
Tried previous kernel 4.16, same issue.
Confirmed rfkill that nothing was blocked. Checked BIOS settings and hardware switch to confirm it wasn't hardware related.
removed the kmod-wl driver, ran akmod --force and rebooted, still got nothing.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce: 1.Run Fedora 28 on any system using a Broadcom BCM4352 Wifi adapter. 2. 3. Actual Results: will not be detected
Expected Results: Wifi Adapter should be manageable via WiFi Settings but is not being detected.

--- Comment #1 from Alexandre Ducastaing alexducast@gmail.com --- Hi all, I have a similar issue on my Dell Vostro 1510. Since the kernel 4.17.2-200.fc28, the wifi didn't work ! But works on kernel 4.16.14-300.fc28.
$ uname -r 4.17.3-200.fc28.x86_64
$ rpm -ql akmod-wl.x86_64 /usr/src/akmods/wl-kmod-6.30.223.271-18.fc28.src.rpm /usr/src/akmods/wl-kmod.latest
I made a #modprobe wl
$ lsmod | grep wl wl 6463488 0 cfg80211 770048 1 wl $
I made a dmesg and I see this: [ 32.894311] wl: loading out-of-tree module taints kernel. [ 32.894317] wl: module license 'MIXED/Proprietary' taints kernel. [ 32.894318] Disabling lock debugging due to kernel taint [ 32.902941] wl: module verification failed: signature and/or required key missing - tainting kernel
Also: $ grep CONFIG_MODULE_SIG /boot/config-$(uname -r) CONFIG_MODULE_SIG=y # CONFIG_MODULE_SIG_FORCE is not set CONFIG_MODULE_SIG_ALL=y # CONFIG_MODULE_SIG_SHA1 is not set # CONFIG_MODULE_SIG_SHA224 is not set CONFIG_MODULE_SIG_SHA256=y # CONFIG_MODULE_SIG_SHA384 is not set # CONFIG_MODULE_SIG_SHA512 is not set CONFIG_MODULE_SIG_HASH="sha256" CONFIG_MODULE_SIG_KEY="certs/signing_key.pem" $ I hope this can help you to fix it. Regards.

--- Comment #2 from Benjamin Masse benjamin.masse@gmail.com --- Hi all.
Can confirm this is also happening on MacBook Pro with said Broadcom driver.
For what it's worth, I just noticed I have the rpmfusion package installed twice using dnf list broadcom* *wl: akmod-wl.x86_64 6.30.223.271-18.fc28 @rpmfusion-nonfree broadcom-wl.noarch 6.30.223.271-5.fc28 @rpmfusion-nonfree broadcom-wl.noarch 6.30.223.271-5.fc28 @rpmfusion-nonfree kmod-wl.x86_64 6.30.223.271-18.fc28 @rpmfusion-nonfree

--- Comment #3 from Alexandre Ducastaing alexducast@gmail.com --- Hi all, I fix it for the BCM4312 card.
I follow these steps: 1/ # dnf remove akmod-wl broadcom-wl
then reboot
2/ lspci ******************************************************************************** 06:00.0 Network controller: Broadcom Inc. and subsidiaries BCM4312 802.11b/g LP-PHY (rev 01) *******************************************************************************
3/ I read this page: https://forums.fedoraforum.org/showthread.php?239922-HOWTO-Use-Broadcom-Wire...
In my case, I did this:
wget http://downloads.openwrt.org/sources/broadcom-wl-4.150.10.5.tar.bz2 tar xjf broadcom-wl-4.150.10.5.tar.bz2 cd broadcom-wl-4.150.10.5/driver su b43-fwcutter -w /lib/firmware wl_apsta_mimo.o
them reboot
I hope this will work with your BCM 4352. Regards.

3/ I read this page: https://forums.fedoraforum.org/showthread.php?239922-HOWTO-Use-Broadcom- Wireless-Cards-in-Fedora-14-15-16
Regards.
