Adding users to LiveCD
by Taylor, Monroe E
I am creating liveCD with livecd-creator tool and using Livecd-fedora-9-base-desktop.ks as the kickstart file. I needed to a user so I added the following command to the add user section of the kickstart file
useradd -c "full name of user" username
I created the LiveCD and booted it. The user was listed on the login screen. However, I was not able to login using it. The following message was displayed "unable to authenticate user". Since I did not set a password I was expecting that it would login but it did not.
Additionally, I attempted to login using the default Fedora Live Login. It did not work but there was no message displayed. It
Any ideas on what is causing this problem?

updating glibc.i386 and glibc.x86_64 error
by Joshua C.
I tried the kdelive-x86_64 and it works fine. I can install/upgrade
packages without problems except one package: glibc-i386. it is pull
as a dependency for nspluginwrapper.i386 and at the installation
everything freezes. it happens only with this package. Can this be a
livecd-specific or a package problem?

pre-install scripts and syslinux
by David Straub
Hi,
I would like to ask about two small issues regarding the livecd-tools
package. First, I noticed that kickstart pre-install scripts are not supported
by the livecd-tools package. I personally find pre-install scripts to be
useful. Is there a specific reason for it being excluded that I did not see?
A second minor concern: syslinux is added as a required package for all x86
images. I have been using the scripts to create rawhide images for
embedded-ish systems where I would like to save as much space as possible on
the image (while still using Fedora, with a minimal number of workarounds).
Would it be possible/practical to add syslinux--and possibly the other boot
loaders--to the dependencies of livecd-tools to use the system's files, and
remove it from the image's required packages?
I have implemented changes to solve both of these issues for myself and can
send the patches for either if they can be addressed. If not, it's no problem;
the livecd-tools package saves a lot of time and makes testing more convenient
for me either way.
Thanks,
Dave

liveusb-creator-gtk to be included on livecds
by muayyad.alsadi@ojuba.org
hi,
as I said on the IRC, I'm going to make a pyGTK tool to install the livecd
into a usb pendrive
I'm releasing it under GPLv2 to allow fedora shipping it with their rpms
What I have done so far is the GUI which automatically know source cds and
target partitions from dbus (no refresh button as it sense the change)
all options and we can add more at any time as I made them a python dict
the header is a gtk.Label() surrounded by two icons
the fedora/ojuba/gnome logo by using start-here icon name (to make branding
easy)
and drive-removable-media-usb icon name (from gnome icon theme)
I want to make sure that those icons are suitable for the KDE/XFCE/LXDE
spins
I did not implement the real creation of the livecd yet, simply because I
don't want to reinvent the wheel
I guess that would be 10 lines to code after we split liveusb-creator into
liveusb-creator and liveusb-creator-qt (and maybe adding
liveusb-creator-cli)
I need to do small changes
like to add tooltips and gettext
to make the min and max values of layer size to be read from dbus or to set
it at a sane default
I'm think about "all" checkbox beside target device that is display all
devices not only usb devices
so any suggestion

what is the root password?
by Joshua C.
I made my own livecd i686 and it works great. The only problem is that
I'm asked about the root password. I tied my root password and others
but couldn't figure it out. What is it and how to create the livecd
without a root password?
