Has anyone created a simple process to turn a livecd/livedvd directly

a compressed usb image, i.e. bypassing the need

maintain usb images on a remote server.
You can certainly just create an image with dd, losetup it and then use
that instead of an actual usb key.
Has anyone already implemented full liveusb encryption(not just home)
with overlay, home. Or is the performance just too slow?
Encryption of the overlay is ... odd at best. I guess that it's
probably doable, but the performance and risk of corruption is going to
increase exponentially.
