[magazine] Featured images for Fedora Magazine
by S.Kemter
Hi,
The Design Team has an issue, with tasks. Well on one hand its a good thing
that all problems and tasks get solved fast (at least most of them) on the
other hand we have several people that wish to contribute and search for
tasks they can do.
We talked at the Design Team FAD about this and came up with some ideas how
to fix this. One idea was to let them make the featured images for Fedora
Magazine. Ryan agreed to that in the meeting and also later on wrote a mail
to the design-team list:
https://lists.fedoraproject.org/archives/list/design-team@lists.fedorapro...
There is only one problem now, newcomers dont know, what featured image is
needed as there is no ticket for it.
They mostly look to the design-team trac instance (they dont look to e.g.
badges trac)
The question is now, if you would create trac tickets for it or if we stick
to pagure issues, which might be right now only partly solves the problem
as we had one place more where a newbie has to look. There would be another
issue with using the pagure instance, we award badges for fixing tickets
and that would currently not work.
So it looks we have to go for a while with creating tickets at
http://fedorahosted.org/design-team/
and fix some problems we need for our process in using pagure.
So can you create this tickets, for open featured images? That will not
include that ones which are urgent, Ryan will still do them on short
notice, so just the ones who have some days time to get fixed.

[magazine] [comm blog] Publishing rights
by Natalie Ardasevova
Hi guys!
Thanks for setting up this Magazine mailing list! It makes things much clearer.
May I ask what's the process of publishing Fedora community blog articles? Do we have an editorial or can anyone with publishing rights publish at anytime?
Is anyone in charge of scheduling? How does that work please?
Thanks, best,
Natalie Ardasevova

Hey all, just wanted to follow up on this thread in the list. Devyani
and I checked in earlier, and the current plan is for a more general
introduction to Fedora Hubs on the Magazine, and a lot of the technical
notes on how to set up a Fedora Hubs instance locally will be moved over
to the Community Blog.
Let us know when you're ready for review and we'll take a look at them,
Devyani. :)

Hey Natalie, we have done some retrospective like this in the past at
certain intervals, but we are not actively doing this right now. Paul
did use a tool to find top search queries for things with Fedora and we
used those to create some starter pitches for new writers.
If I can remember what the tool is, I think that's a great way to get a
better insight to what people in the greater public are looking for.
Otherwise, for the topics we are writing on, we usually look at the
WordPress metrics.

Hi Saurabh! I'm getting caught up on my inbox and just noticed this
email without a response!
Thanks for writing this article - it came up at last week's meeting
right when we were closing out, but we didn't have time to go over it. I
just moved your article from a pitch status to pending review, since it
seems like it's all wrapped up (for future reference, if you do this, it
will help us know that your article is all ready to go faster).
I can't remember if Ryan or Paul have taken a look at this one yet - if
not, I can try to tackle this one to get it put on the schedule sooner
than later since you've been waiting on a review for so long. Is there
any info left that you will want to look over before we prep it for
publication?
Thanks for being so patient - but if you don't hear from us for a long
time, don't be afraid to pop into #fedora-magazine on Freenode and ask
if anyone has had a chance to check out your article! :)

[magazine] INSTRUCTIONS: Removal from the list
by Paul W. Frields
I've removed a few people from the list manually. However, I don't
plan to do this as dozens more requests come in.
IF YOU WANT TO GET OFF THIS LIST:
Send an email to: magazine-request(a)lists.fedoraproject.org
You must send it from the address you want to unsubscribe.
The subject should be only: unsubscribe
You don't need anything in the body. Just send it. You'll receive a
note back with some output that includes a line like:
"John Doe" <nobody(a)example.com> left magazine(a)lists.fedoraproject.org
Easy as that.
