Being at the MySQL User Conference DotOrg Pavilion
by Colin Charles
Hi all,
Especially those based in San Francisco...
The MySQL Users Conference 2006 (http://mysqluc.com/) is on from the
24th-27th April 2006. There's going to be a DotOrg Pavilion, just like
there is at the LinuxWorld's we've been to before.
The exhibition area is open on the 25th and 26th of April. Keep in mind
that *one* full conference pass will be issued to the Fedora booth, so
anyone wanting to attend a talk can go ahead and do so
Is there interest from the SF-based Fedora folk? Its a great place to
push Fedora, as a bunch of other distributions are going to be there, as
well as apps that run on top of Fedora (that use MySQL)
If there's interest, do drop me a line. We need:
* 1 organizer
* at least 2-3 booth babes to be with the organizer
Thanks!

Ubuntu Linux leader proposes six-week delay
by David Barzilay
New versions of Ubuntu Linux have been released at a steady six-month
cadence, but project founder Mark Shuttleworth is considering a six-week
delay to improve the reliability of an important new version.
The next version, called Dapper Drake, is due in April. It's the first
version that will have longer-term support commitments--three years for
the desktop computer version and five years for servers, compared to 18
months for the current 5.10 "Breezy Badger" version.
Getting those features right is important, Shuttleworth said in an e-
mail on Friday. "We will live with Dapper for five years--so let's give
it a few extra weeks now so that it can be a real asset to the Ubuntu
project for the full duration of its lifespan," Shuttleworth said.

FC5 press release
by Greg DeKoenigsberg
We're less than a week from the release of Fedora Core 5. We've been
working on a general press release, and we're pretty close to done with
it; it's seen a number of edits from various people over the last week.
It's not perfect, of course, but it's close enough.
So, take ONE FINAL LOOK at:
http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/FC5PressRelease
If you see any GLARING errors or omissions, please reply within the next
24 hours. Tomorrow, we'll freeze this version as the content master.

[Fwd: Re: Press release translation]
by Karsten Wade
If we can finalize the FC 5 press release today, we can convert it to
the XML and make it available for translations. The folks who worked on
the release-notes might be available. Otherwise, someone can manually
load it into i18n.redhat.com.

I don't think the content is final.
Are there any plans for others to translate?
To translate, we are converting to XML in CVS. We have a simple press-
release module we are using.
I'm sorry there isn't better coordination around translation. I thought
we were going to use the Fedora Translation Project and the tools for
locking/unlocking files from CVS. But I have not heard back from any of
the Translation leaders/members about that.
We will try to finalize the press release and get it into a (new) CVS
module, then announce it ready for translation. I'll see about this
today.

non-technical press release
by Robert 'Bob' Jensen
I am wondering if there will be an official non-technical press release
that I could send to my local paper. If not would anyone be interested
in helping write one that we could get a blessing for?

Fedora's Banner
by Francesco Ugolini
Hi all. My names, as many of us know, is Francesco Ugolini, i'm a
Fedora ambassador.
I think that Fedora is a great system and many people have to know
this. It's a mission, i know but we have to broke all prejudice that
many people (bad people) have said of this system.
I've done some banner ( http://www.fedoraproject.org/wiki/Marketing/
Banners ) that everybody can put in their site or blog to make fedora
more visible to all. Those are a beginning.
Thanks

Re: [Fedora-ambassadors-list] Live : promotional material
by Chitlesh GOORAH
Hai there,
Ive built a livecd, a second one.
Its been more that 8 hours Im sending it via yousendit.com
I think I should find another way to upload :(
There are 2 users, root and fedora. But in the root's desktop there is
a folder named "fedora".
I was thinking about adding promotional materials in that folder so
that Ambassadors might be using during their Fedora promotion
activities.
Do tell me what is your favourite promotional materials.
Of course NOT everything could be added but at least the prime/standard one.
For now, Ive included a presentation made by gregdek, 2 videos of
DavidNelly, 2 flyers(english and french) made by ThomasCanniot and I.
Evince gave me a black background for the english version, but Ill
send the corrected one to ThomasCanniot to upload it.
Have a look at :
http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Kadischi/UserContribution?action=AttachFile...
the index.html is based upon Abhishek's work.
I haven't yet looked at the banners and videos which are being
discussed on the list. But if you feel there is something lacking
about my contents, feel free to propose your version :)
Remember these contents might be useful to you as Fedora Ambassador,
don't be shy, I don't read minds :)

This doesn't make sense.

Is this true? Has it been tested?

I don't think this is true.

You can't say "Fedora is better than Windows" in a press release.
