Documentary on Fedora
by Dhushyanth R
Hi all
I had a strange idea and thought it would be nice to share. Well it
goes like we all love documentaries-they are so informative, they give
points to ponder, and mostly because it's fun, also it does help a
curious mind to get information without the burden of reading up
something. After the idea of "picture book", I think the next logical
step is an Official documentary. It could maybe cover the birth and
rise of fedora, contribution and importance of fedora to the foss
community, etc. So any thoughts on such a thing?Comments?
I do know that documentaries on Linux already exist(revolution OS, the
code linux) but why not have something specific for fedora.....
Disregard this mail if such a documentary already exists.I searched on
google and couldn't find one.
regards

Fedora 11 Alpha now ships with Windows cross compiler
by Rahul Sundaram
Hi
http://www.ostoday.org/os-news-1/00016-020609.shtml
Min-GW is a development environment for Fedora users who want to
cross-compile their programs to run on Windows without having to use
Windows during development.
In the past, developers have had to port and compile all of the
libraries and tools they have needed. “MinGW in Fedora eliminates
duplication of work for application developers by providing a range of
libraries and development tools already ported to the cross-compiler
environment,” says Fedora.

Meeting Today 5.2.2009
by Jack Aboutboul
Hello All,
We will have our regular scheduled meeting today, the 5th of February, 2009.
When: 17.00 UTC, 2PM Eastern, 11AM Pacific
Where: #fedora-meeting on irc.freenode.net
What: The agenda is going to be working from the new schedule which was
put up on the wiki at
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/User:Jonrob/MarketingSchedule. The goal
is to try and set deadlines for everything on the schedule and also
establish some time-based, recurring, tasks which we can then turn into
a boilerplate template schedule which we can then use over for every
release. Hopefully, that will give us some more structure and allow us
to focus our efforts on other things...

Fedora news distribution network idea
by Steven Moix
Hello,
As I missed today's meeting, here is one point I wanted to talk about:
an effective news distribution method.
As discussed in last week's meeting we don't have an effective way to
get Fedora related news to the public so here is a proposition:
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Marketing/NewsDistributionNetwork
Feel free to edit it, comment it and so on...If you find it's a good
idea I'll start looking for interested people in the following weeks.
The core of the proposition is to find motivated people in the marketing
group to generate news in the first place.
Have a nice day

Draft schedule NOW on the wiki
by Jonathan Roberts
OK, the draft schedule is now up on the wiki accompanied by reasonably
detailed task descriptions. Not as complete as the Gobby doc, but it
makes a hell of a lot more sense and perhaps people will be more
inclined to look at it there. If you want to understand how it reached
the current state, check there.
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/User:Jonrob/MarketingSchedule
I encourage everyone to take a look and make amendments and additions
(especially where it's obvious I started to get bored), as well as to
think about what task they would like to get involved with. I propose
that we should discuss this further in tomorrow's meeting, as well as
begin assigning task owners as there's a lot of work here!

Schedule
by Jonathan Roberts
Hey,
Just to give people a heads up that there's now a document on Gobby
that is the basis for a marketing schedule, covering the F11 release
period.
It would be fantastic if people would drop over to it and make
changes/updates etc, specifically add what you think is missing!
Before Thursday's meeting I intend to start trying to add dates and
priorities, but they'll probably be pretty random, so help there would
also be appreciated.
Pretty sure it's called something like F11 schedule.
If you need instructions on accessing Gobby, see:
