picture book update
by Max Spevack
In summary, we need to separate CONTENT CREATION and DISTRIBUTION into
two separate tasks.
CONTENT CREATION
================
We need to read over their file creation guide as well as their cover
template generator, and their color cover/interior
suggestions/guidelines. The sales guy basically said that our job is to
deliver them a .pdf file, so anything we use to create content that can
spit out a .pdf is going to be ok, but he urged us to read those
documents to be sure.
We can choose 7x10, 8x10, or 8.5x11 as the "trim" size.
They are mailing a sample of their work to Red Hat in Raleigh, where I
will be next week to take a look at it.
DISTRIBUTION
============
SETUP FEE -- $75
PROOF FEE -- $15 + $.09 per page = $22.20
1-49 copies: $9.50 each
50-99 copies: $9.025 each
100-249 copies: $8.55 each
250-499 copies: $7.60 each
500+ copies: $7.125 each
200 copies will run us $1807.20 plus tax ($9.04 each)
300 copies will run us $2377.20 plus tax ($7.92 each)
400 copies will run us $3137.20 plus tax ($7.84 each)
500 copies will run us $3659.70 plus tax ($7.32 each)
We can either (a) do whatever we want with the books or (b) do whatever
we want with some of the books and put the others on Amazon, etc.
=========
My recommendation is that we continue working to produce the book, and
assuming that the quality of their sample is good, we go with LSI.

Marketing idea mandatory for everybody
by Gerold
Hello everybody out there,
what do you think about "name plates" like
https://kermit.homelinux.net/misc/nameplate.jpg ?
I would like to see every Ambassador with such a name plate (around the
world) at the Release Parties, Talks, Events and btw. ....
at Linuxtag, Fedora related Speakers from LinuxTag and FUDCon will have
such a name plate :-)
Can I have your "vote" for a mandatory "Standard name plate for the
Release Cycle of F11"?

New Meeting Time Tomorrow 2009.04.14 @ 20.00 UTC
by Jack Aboutboul
Hey Guys,
Sorry I sent this earlier today from my friends computer and was
wondering why it didn't show up. He just emailed me now telling me I
sent mail through his account. Sorry guys!!
Hey Everyone,
We have a new meeting time for tomorrow. We are going to go to non-utc
fixed, which means we are going back to 20.00 UTC which is 4pm Eastern
and 1pm Pacific. This will allow more of our european counterparts to
be active, since before it would have meant them being at a meeting at 11pm.
See you tomorrow!

Meeting schedule, do we need strict UTC?
by Steven Moix
Hello all,
Some months ago, we all voted to hold our IRC meetings at 21h UTC. This
was perfectly fine for the continental-European people during the winter
(we are at UTC+1) because the meetings were held at 22h. Now let's
introduce Daylight Savings Time (DST) to the party...it adds another
hour in the summer, which brings the meeting to 23h. It's clearly too
late for me...
Résumé:
Winter: meeting at 22h
Summer: meeting at 23h
So my question is...can we hold the meetings at 21h UTC in the winter
and at 20h UTC in the summer? It would have the effect to keep a
constant meeting time (22h) during the whole year for us...
Any comments?

French press kits
by Steven Moix
Hello all,
Here is the first picture of an almost finished French press kit:
http://www.alphatek.info/divers/DSC00084.JPG
It was designed for Live CDs and has a little support for them in the
middle, the final version won't have the white borders and be printed on
heavy paper.

Tutorial: Build Your Own Linux Distro
by Rahul Sundaram
Hi
step by step guide on using revisor to customize and create your own
distribution derived from Fedora
http://www.pcplus.co.uk/node/3020
"We're used to thinking of Linux distributions being set in stone.
They're either KDE or Gnome, use a certain kernel and bundle certain
applications. But this doesn't have to be the case. If you find yourself
making the same adjustments each time you install a new distribution,
it's worth creating your own customised version. Revisor is a tool that
lets you do just this, and in this tutorial, we'll show you how..."
