Fwd: Call for Fedora 13 Test Days
by Mel Chua
I am tempted to submit test days for Fedora Insight ("can you submit an
article through the workflow?" and "how usable/readable is the
interface?"), and for Limesurvey ("can you figure out how to create a
survey?")
Hollering out for an initial "does this sound like a reasonable idea?"
gauge - if there were such a Test Day, held during a time window you
could attend, would you probably come test for an hour or so? Would you
be interested in helping to organize/run one?
I'm not going to hold anyone to this, just getting a handle on the
interest in both areas might be.

Subject: Call for Fedora 13 Test Days

Hi, folks. It's about time we kicked the Fedora 13 Test Day cycle into
gear!
For those who haven't had experience yet with the Test Day concept,
here's an overview:
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/QA/Test_Days
and here's the Fedora 12 Test Day schedule, so you can see what a
completed cycle looks like:
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/QA/Fedora_12_test_days
This is a call for anyone who's got an idea for a Test Day for Fedora 13
to submit a request. The Test Day process is very flexible. We usually
run a track of 'official' QA group Test Days on Thursdays, but the
process can be used in different ways. A Test Day can be owned and
organized by another group, run on a different day and promoted in
whatever way the group feels appropriate. You can help to organize a
Test Day that's promoted under the auspices of QA, or you can submit an
idea for a Test Day and ask us to do almost all the organization work
for you. So if you have any kind of Test Day idea, please don't hold
back, send it in!
To propose a Test Day, follow the guide:
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/QA/Test_Days/Create . It's really short
and easy. If even that is too much, though, please feel free to just
email the QA list (test@) or me personally, and we'll help guide you
through the process.
Just for reference, here's the ideas we have already for the F13 cycle:
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Talk:QA/Fedora_13_test_days
Now dazzle us with your ideas! Thanks.

For strategic "let us figure out SEO-friendly URLs" stuff, #fedora-mktg
seems like the right place to me, yes. Logistics remains the central
focal point for all things zikula and should be copied on all updates,
but we'll continue frequently swinging out to other groups/lists to ask
for help and resources as we need them.
Marketing folks: for context on what we're talking about, see the 4th
paragraph of
http://lists.fedoraproject.org/pipermail/logistics/2010-January/000327.html.
Basically, Keiran is coming up with a short URL system for Fedora
Insight that's going to be SEO-friendly; suggestions/feedback welcome in
case folks have any thoughts as he goes along.

Self-Introduction: Heherson Pagcaliwagan
by Heherson Pagcaliwagan
For a long time I have been subscribed to this list and I just
recently decided to formally chip in to Marketing. Please take care of
me. :)
I'm from Quezon City, Philippines, a Filipino Ambassador, Bugzapper
and FreeMedia team member. I'm a sysad by profession though I'm public
administrator by training. I'm interested in technology, business and
education.
My Marketing background involves marketing for previous student
organizations, internship at the Philippine Board of Investments (for
EMEA), and helping out on our annual Software Freedom Day
celebrations.
Some other things about me: I'm a passable writer, relatively good
speaker (in small groups) and very good in meetings (especially if
snacks are available). I'm now almost two years with Fedora Project
and I still feel I'm a newbie. :)

FAD and stuff... Time for planning!
by Ryan Rix
Hey all,
The topic of next week's Marketing meeting is *finalizing* the Marketing FAD
schedule. This means that we need to get some stuff done before that meeting
to make things extra super easy for next Tuesday :)
So, I talked to Mel, here's what we need to do, for each day...
(1) a well specified deliverable (or deliverables)
(2) a list of resources (materials, people, skills) required to complete that
deliverable
(3) a to-do list on what's needed to prepare those resources before the FAD
(4) milestones/time-blocks during the day (such as "9-10am brainstorm on $foo,
10-11:30am split into groups and get photographs $bar and $baz taken") etc. so
that part-timers can figure out when they need to be available
(5) owners of as many tasks as possible
(6) milestones for prep between now and FAD-time, if the complexity of prep is
needed
Robyn, someone to own day 2 (i can if no one else steps up, i guess), Max,
Henrik, please take over this thread and answer each question to the best of
your ability. :-)
There are also the out-of-sync things that we may want to do at the FAD, that
may or may not end with specific deliverables, but we may end up wanting
anyways :) They should be considered in planning. Things like my personal
crusade, marketing materials and SOPs for Spins, and a quick how-to-package-
rpms hackfest to get those of us in attendance without such skills up to
speed. Please throw others in here, and also add them to the wiki under
Business. https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Marketing_FAD_2010#Business
Have a good time :-)

Marketing FAD
by Susan Lauber
Hi I'm Susan and I have been lurking here for a while - mainly as a Docs
person to help with release announcements and notes but some of you may
remember me answering wiki gardening questions.
I am local to Raleigh (about 45 miles from RH) so I am thinking about
attending at least part of the Marketing FAD.
I am an Ambassador so I should be able to contribute to event ideas and as I
already mentioned, I am a member of the Docs team so I am also interested in
the progress of Zikula. Really though, I just want to meet people and
socialize :)
Unfortunately once I had added my name to the wiki as tenative and Mel
started prodding, I realized that I might be in Boston that weekend. Too
soon to tell at the moment.

Meeting minutes 2010-01-19
by Mel Chua
Two notes before the notes begin...
First, this week's meeting (and the past few, really) have been sort of
standard boring status update meetings. Let's change that. ;) Next
week's meeting is going to be a sprint for the FAD - by the end of next
week's meeting we should be able to publish (on Planet, etc.) a "here is
what we will be doing during the FAD" thing, a "how you can help" thing,
and a "here's what needs to be done to make that possible" thing. More
prep-fu going out over this list as the week goes by.
Second, https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Marketing_FAD_2010#Questions was
one link that didn't make it into the meeting logs, but Henrik has some
question to tackle for the FAD here.

Marketing FAD Questions
by wonderer
Hy,
I just put another point to the wiki at
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Marketing_FAD_2010#Questions where I
think could be questions collected. This maybe for the example if we
have some RH guys around (hopefully) or on a specific day 1-4 or to a
specific agenda-point.
So, we all could prepare a little bit better.
mit freundlichen Grüßen / best regards
