[In the news] My Linux: Fedora 13 for Software Developers
by Rahul Sundaram
Hi
https://ualug.ece.auckland.ac.nz/archives/246
"This is (hopefully) the first in a series of posts in which members of
the LUG will detail their personal Linux set-ups and what they use them
for. I’m going to start out by detailing my set-up which is based on
Fedora 13. As a Computer Systems Engineer use my system(s) largely for
developing software, both for desktop platforms and embedded systems.
Therefore this article isn’t really for those new to computers, but it
should be of use to those who are tech-savvy on other platforms. I’ll
start by giving a quick overview of how I came to be a Fedora user, give
a description of Fedora as a distribution and then give an overview of
my system."

Marketing meeting - cancelling for today
by Robyn Bergeron
A few of us are at OSCON, including myself and mchua - not sure that
we'll have appropriate bandwidth to get on. However - if anyone has
stuff they'd like to discuss - feel free to gather and do so!
Cheers -

#63: Generic Fedora slogan for fedoraproject.org front page
-----------------------+----------------------------------------------------
Reporter: mchua | Owner: pfrields
Type: task | Status: assigned
Priority: minor | Milestone: F14a: Pre-alpha
Component: Branding | Severity: not-urgent
Resolution: | Keywords: meeting
-----------------------+----------------------------------------------------
Changes (by pfrields):
* cc: duffy (added)
Comment:
This will be taken care of as part of the www.fp.o mockup tweaking:
* http://lists.fedoraproject.org/pipermail/design-
team/2010-July/002928.html
We have two equally reasonable choices IMHO:
* Do away with a release-specific slogan and just adopt one for use on
the website for the foreseeable future;
* Keep doing a release-specific slogan, and embed it in the web banner
each release using the Power of Inkscape.
I would encourage the Marketing team to take up that decision after
discussing it with Design, and then feed the results into the tweaking of
the www.fp.o mockup.

Presentation and Small Paper
by Nelson Marques
Hi,
I've finished some days ago the presentation I'm going to submit for
openSUSE Conf 2010 and sent it today to Royal School of Languages in
Aveiro for US English corrections and changes.
I'm planning to make this available on my fedora space and will
transcribe later on the support paper (~17 pages) into the wiki.
The final title is: Service Marketing and YOUR FOSS Project!
It provides a perspective on the Marketing Mix and how to use the mix
to promote your project.
I'm waiting for the Contest run by the Design Team on the Presentations
so I can provide the presentation under a Fedora layout.

Weekly meeting re-scheduling
by Mel Chua
At the last marketing meeting, I offered to send out a meeting
re-scheduling survey to see if we could set a more convenient time for
the folks participating in this release cycle (since timezones and
school and work schedules and such don't always match up with our
current logistics).
Fill in your details here:
http://whenisgood.net/d9b5jc
Results can be viewed here:
http://whenisgood.net/d9b5jc/results/azs5kr
I figure next week's meeting (7/20) would be a good time to review
results and switch the time if needed.

Missing meeting, sorry guys!
by Paul W. Frields
Team,
I'm sorry I have to miss today's meeting. I'm in meetings with our new
FPL Jared and some teams here at Red Hat in Raleigh until around
4:00pm, and then I need to drive him to the airport to catch his plane
to Santiago for FUDCon. I should be able to catch the next one without
a problem.

Fedora Buzz needs a new name
by Luke Slater
Hello all,
I've been developing Fedora Buzz but before I go much further we really need
to come up with a new name for it because of Google having a service of the
same name; several people have mentioned it recently.
I can't think of anything so if we could get some sort of brainstorming thread
going here?
If you can't remember or don't know about the project, you can read the wiki
page here: https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Fedora_Buzz
Thanks a lot,
