Hi, my name is Chris Roberts and I live in Toledo, Ohio. EST Timezone. My Fedora Account
System (FAS) username is chrisroberts, and my IRC nick is croberts.
I learned about the Fedora Marketing team through the wiki page and through Fedora IRC
chat, and am interested in joining because I enjoy spreading the word about Fedora and
contributing any way I can. I am currently part of the Fedora Docs project and love it. I
enjoy contributing in that way, I would like to be able to branch out and help make people
aware of Fedora as well.
This is the first Marketing project I have worked on, and I am looking to learn and help
where needed.
My skills, which I hope to utilize in Fedora Marketing, include:
(Marketing Skills) - Good people and customer service skills, friendly and outgoing
Knowledge of how to get articles published with some of the local free press newspapers
around Toledo and the surrounding suburbs.
(Other Skills) - Good general knowledge of Fedora, and willingness to learn.
I would like to learn any skills that could help me be a better contributor to the Fedora
Marketing Project.
When I'm not working on Fedora, I am currently attending University of Toledo to
obtain my bachelors in Computer Science. I also work at a local ISP providing technical
support. A couple of people at my work have shown interest in starting a Linux group for
Toledo, and we are looking to focus on Fedora.
One of the goals I have for the Fedora Project are to get more user awareness in the
public. When talking to people just in general about Linux the distro that usually comes
up is Ubuntu. When asking if they have tried Fedora, most reply back with I have heard
about it but never tried it. I then go on to tell them about our community and different
reasons why they should try it. Most people I have talked to about Fedora, who went and
installed it, have made the switch.
Please help me get started!
Thanks,
Chris Roberts
