Ah, OK. I will send an updated patch then. Although it would be nicer if we had helpers that don't depend on rpm, so that people wouldn't be tempted to do this.
Even we don't use the helpers when we build rpms, I'd not expect other distros would either.
OK, fair enough. Although I'd expect that packages are usually built from a tarball, so .gitignore is irrelevant at that point.
