However, a Goocanvas package does not seem to be available, so I built one. I've attached the gcc bug report below. This make running a non-trivial C++ program impossible an renders the mingw32 toolchain unusable for real-world C++ programs. The mingw-w64 toolchain has solved this problem by supplying a shared libgcc, hopefully the mingw32 toolchain will follow this approach in the near future. For this we've created some custom scripts to strip out debug information to separate files and added some RPM macro's to create -debuginfo subpackages containing these files. This has been discussed at http://lists.fedoraproject.org/pipermail/fedora-mingw/2009-June/001748.html The RPM scripts were added in mingw32-filesystem-52-1.fc12 and some of our regular MinGW packages were rebuild as can be seen at http://koji.fedoraproject.org/koji/buildinfo?buildID=111400 After waiting for the next rawhide push we discovered that the mingw32-glib2-debuginfo subpackage wasn't published in the rawhide-debuginfo repository. Fedora 12: What projects for F12?

Fedora 11 is nearly in beta, and thanks to some judicious cuts at the end, we made it to 100% feature complete. Thanks to the many people who helped out reviewing packages and testing. What do we want to aim for in Fedora 12? Some ideas - please add your own to this thread. (1) Win64 support (see: http://lists.fedoraproject.org/pipermail/fedora-mingw/2009-February/thread.… ) (2)? Use mingw-w64 project to build 32 bit w32api/runtime, since mingw-w64 seems to be more active. (3) Darwin / OS X support (see: https://www.redhat.com/archives/fedora-devel-list/2009-March/msg00397.html ) (4) Get some of the issues resolved in the packaging guidelines: http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/MinGW/Packaging_issues (5) Expand active members, particularly packagers. I would like to start by having a website which doesn't suck like our current one. (6) Move educational materials to a single place. (7) Have a FAQ. (8) I'd like to have a reasonable Python story. I spent a lot of time trying to get Python and Python libs to cross-compile, without any success. mingw32-SDL_image and mingw32-SDL_mixer

Hi all, I'm pretty new to this packaging and cross-compiling, but I put together a couple packages anyway: http://jasonwoof.com/downloads/mingw32-SDL_image-1.2.6-1.fc11.src.rpm http://jasonwoof.com/downloads/mingw32-SDL_mixer-1.2.8-1.fc11.src.rpm They seem to work quite well for me, but I don't really know what I'm doing, so I'd appreciate more knowledgeable folk looking over my spec files. Here's what I did and where everything came from: (all in F11) 1) I set up my .rpmmacros so it would store sources in separate directories by package name-version by adding this line: %_sourcedir %{_topdir}/SOURCES/%{name}-%{version} I was worried that multiple source rpms would have files in them with the same name (which turned out to be the case) and I wanted to make sure I could tell what packages what files came from. 2) I used yumdownloader to download source rpms for SDL SDL_mixer SDL_image and SDL and installed them in my local rpmbuild tree 3) I duplicated SOURCES/SDL_image-1.2.6/ to SOURCES/mingw32-SDL_image-1.2.6/ 4) I copied SPECS/mingw32-SDL-1.2.13.spec to SPECS/mingw32-SDL_image-1.2.6.spec 5) I edited that new spec file, mostly by looking at existing SDL_image-1.2.6.spec and pulling useful parts from it. tweaking as neccesary. And basically did the same for SDL_mixer. Some notes: I didn't modify anything in the SOURCES folder (just copied whole folders as described above). I used all the patches that were used for the native versions. I commented out lines to install (and build in one case) little executable programs from both packages that I didn't understand the point of. I've cross-compiled my game (vor) which uses both of these libraries, and it works great under wine. (Gets at least 40% better framerate under wine than it does when compiled for linux.) Though I have not tested them on Windows. I have a fedoraproject.org account (so I can edit the wiki and such) but don't have any connections or access or anything to get these into the fedora distrobution. If/when they are ready, I'd love someone to take care of this, or help me do it. Right now I don't even know what the process is. Looking forward to hearing your thoughts/feedback. Hi, I would like to have mingw32-tcl for rhel5. I had to make a small change in the F10/F11 spec for being able to install it:: http://orion.lcg.ufrj.br/RPMS/src/mingw32-tcl-8.5.7-5.el5.1.src.rpm Certainly there is a better way to fix the installation script. It is also possible to have mingw32-tk for rhel5 (I opened a review request for Fedora): https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=530047 Both of them are working just fine for me on rhel5. Hi, I am in the need to have a build environment for windows that builds every night and that is started from a clean state and ends up in a install program. Is there any howto or does someone have a setup like this that they can share. I use 'mock' for building different Linux RPM or DEB packages, but I would also like to have something like that for a Windows install file. A 'mock' setup that produces a final install file for Windows would be great. Any tips? I should explain that there are three related issues here which stop us from running Wine. Two are bugs (IMHO) in RPM or Koji. One is a bug (IMHO) in Wine itself. (1) RPM/Koji doesn't understand cross-compilation at all. Our target packages are all noarch which is (sort of) correct within the bounds of RPM[*]. Because the package is noarch, Koji decides that it can be built on any machine, so it can choose a PPC builder for example. On PPC, the cross-compiler works, but Wine could never run. But there is no way to say to Koji that a package is noarch, but should be built anyway on i386. [*] If you prefer you can think of wine as an interpreter, interpreting Win32 PE executables, something like: foo.pl is interpreted by /usr/bin/perl foo.exe is interpreted by /usr/bin/wine (2) Koji won't install Wine on x86-64, because Wine is an i386 package. Koji doesn't understand multilib (probably a good thing, because multilib is crack). (3) Wine after installation doesn't "just work". You have to fiddle with a difficult configuration file: http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/MinGW/Configure_wine which is difficult to automate. Wine used to have an environment variable (WINE_PATH or something?) but they removed it(!) > Thanks, I thought I was missing something. I tested freeglut a lot, and it works for me linking with glut32, and I am not sure why. Otherwise, the application does not display anything when run in windows. But I have mingw with gcc 3.4.2 installed on my windows box with some additional packages, such as CGAL, which make it difficult for me to upgrade to a newer mingw right now (CGAL requires a lot of other packages). Maybe this cause some incompatibilities with the code generated in Fedora (gcc-4.3.2). I also used mingw32-freeglut and a mingw32-glui, I packaged myself, and it is also working just fine for cross-compiling opengl applications: http://orion.lcg.ufrj.br/RPMS/src/mingw32-glui-2.35-1.fc10.src.rpm I tried to package freglut 2.4.0, but there were so many errors that I gave up. Existing packages have small command-line tools and test programs, because those are useful for testing if the packaged library is working. Have you been able to run any cross-compiled opengl example in windows using freeglut 2.6.0? In wine the examples run, but the opengl window is not redrawn when moved across the screen. AIUI freeglut is not completely compatible with non-free GLUT, so building / linking against freeglut and then trying to run against real GLUT could cause other problems. broken debuginfo and binutils update

Hello, Recent update from gcc 4.4.0 prerelease to 4.4.1 postrelease apparently broke debug information support in binaries. A non-stripped binary compiled with the new gcc would produce the following error: $ wine dummy.exe wine: could not load L"Z:\\home\\kalev\\tmp\\dummy.exe": Bad EXE format for Stripping the binary works around that error. The binaries contain a new .debug_pubtypes section [1], and because of that binutils also need to be updated. Any objections if I update the binutils in rawhide to version 2.19.51.0.14, which is the same as in native Fedora binutils package? That should fix the broken debuginfo in newly compiled programs. However, several packages which were compiled with the new gcc but old binutils now have broken debuginfo. Those will need to be rebuilt. Any suggestions on how to do that?
