I think I have misunderstood your concept of a private mirror. The
mirror I am setting up will be an internet offline mirror.
One server will rsync with an official mirror and I will then move my
rsync copy to a network (which don't have access to the internet) where
the clients are.
Do you think I should go on and use the report_mirror script even though
I don't need any redirection for my clients?
If you do not need the automatic redirection then you can do whatever
you want ;-)
From the beginning I thought I had to register these a FAS account to
be
allowed to rsync, but now it seems that Sunet (ftp.sunet.se) allows me to
rsync anonymously.
No. Private mirrors do not get direct access to the master mirror servers
anyway. Therefore you should use a tier 1 or tier 2 mirror if doing a
private mirror setup (with mirrormanager and client redirection).
I want to comply with Fedora rules for mirroring and if you say we
should continue on this track I will finish this procedure otherwise I
don't see the point doing it.
Yes, the whole setup is just to help you and your installation so that
you do not need to change the configuration for all your clients. With
mirrormanager and the private mirror setup you would get an automatic
redirection to your private mirror. If that is not possible or if you do
want it you can of course do whatever you want with the data. Most
mirrors offer rsync access, so just pick one sync the data and you are
good.
