Jack is not Coorperating
by Onyeibo Oku
Hello People,
Fedora Sound SIG is making progress (poco a poco). Some nice musicians
have made suggestions and uploaded sample files (some interesting
ideas). You can add to the fun! Hang out with us at #fedora-sound and
don't catch the updates here : https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/SIGs/Sound
While that is happening, efforts to run applications that depend on Jack
has been a nightmare. How do you work with Sound Apps on Fedora without
Jack? Can someone help us out? It just won't run ... the crash is
perfect, 100% guaranteed on a Lovelock (F15) Machine.

Onyeibo

jack-audio-connection-kit-1.9.7 built for Fedora 15
by Orcan Ogetbil
Hi all,
I just updated jack to 1.9.7 on Fedora 15. You can grab the source and
binary RPMs from
http://koji.fedoraproject.org/koji/buildinfo?buildID=237324
Note that you can't use the binary F-15 RPMs directly on F-14. If you
would like me to update jack on Fedora 14, please file a request at
bugzilla.redhat.com
Fedora 15 is planned to be released late May.
Fernando, I did not include the portnames patch this time as the old
patch did not apply cleanly, and I didn't want to regenerate the patch
as I am not very familiar with the code. When you get a chance, could
you send me an updated patch so I can include in the Fedora package?
Thanks!

Announcing the Fedora Sound SIG
by Onyeibo Oku
Good Morning Music and Audio People!
I'd like to bring to your notice an announcement made yesterday at
Fedora Planet.
:
Today we announce the Fedora Sound SIG. Our goal is to create free (as
in freedom) Sound themes and make them available in the Fedora repositories.
Fedora has a huge selection of Software, but lacks of a good selection
of sound themes. We want to fix that issue, by creating free,
high-quality sound themes, and make them easily installable in Fedora.
All themes will be created only with free software that is available on
Fedora.
We need help!
We need help from anyone who can help us achieving this goal. Musicians,
Packagers, Developers, Contributors with good ideas, testers, and more.
Join now to #fedora-sound at irc.freenode.net!
So far, we've looked at some free sounds at creative commons and we get
the impression our goal will be easier to achieve with those who
actually create sound. We look forward to seeing you guys at
#fedora-sound.
Regards
Onyeibo

Fedora Sound SIG
by Elad Alfassa
Hello Fedora audio creation SIG.
We at the Fedora Sound SIG[1] would like to cooperate with you, as our
goal is to create sound themes for Fedora using the tools that you are
packaging.
Is it okay with you that we will use this mailing list for the Fedora
sound SIG? If not, that's understandable, and we will ask
infrastructure to set up a separate list for us.
