Project: Build a fedmsg plugin for perceval

Hello Everyone, I am Dyuti De and apart from coding (right now, in TCL and Python), I like data analysis and data crawling. I am new to open source and I am inspired by the sheer idea of an open source community where better codes and ideas flow in continually. I recently discovered this project and got interested to contribute to this project as a part of Outreachy program. In order to record my contributions and link it to the Outreachy page, I created a repository where I plan to commit the required tasks (before hopping in and contributing to the community directly). I hope it is ok to mention a repository for a contribution. Please let me know, what you all think or anything at all. Thanks, Dyuti

Hi All, I tried the second task "create and run a simple C program that uses the libcephfs library in some way." and used [1] as a reference program. I have attached the program along with output and other details, have also pasted it in [2], let me know if i need to create a github repo for just this. The program, takes an existing filename as input, and computes sha1 checksum of the content of the file and prints it in the readable format. Currently i m working on doing the same thing using python-bindings. For the third task "making simple changes to Ceph/CephFS which are submitted as pull requests is also encouraged to stand out. For example, refactoring or cleaning up some code is okay." can you suggest me some issue? i did look through issues but couldn't figure out a simple code reorg change. Creation of a CephFS Shell and CLI Tool

start up a Ceph cluster. I m interested in working on the Ceph project "Creation of a CephFS Shell and CLI Tool" and hence had filled the application form for the same. As part of the initial step "start up a Ceph cluster" i have created a Ceph cluster. I have used ceph-deploy tool to create Ceph cluster, and a Ceph client(filesystem). Followed, the documentation in [1][2][3][4]. The setup has 4 centos 7.4 VMs running on Fedora 27 host. One of the nodes is admin-node and the others are osd,mon,mgr node. Have used one of these nodes in the cluster as client node and have created a Ceph file system mount. Hi, I have attempted the Task *3. Write a basic Perceval plugin which pulls data from any REST API you like (yep, ANY!) *for this project. I tried implementing basic Perceval plugin which pulls data from twitter API and allows to fetch the tweets with the specific hashtags, here is the github link below. https://github.com/Ranjithagkm/grimoirelab-perceval/blob/master/perceval/ba… The work is still in progress, i need to add api_token fix the errors and get it working. Will need 2 days more to complete this, would that be allowed as the deadline is today? Also i have submitted the application for this project and i had a doubt regarding the two fields mentioned below which were asked as a part of application submission: "(Optional) Community-specific Questions: Some communities or projects may want you to answer additional questions. Please check with your mentor and community coordinator to see if you need to provide any additional information after you save your project application." - Let me know if any question needs to be answered. AND "Outreachy internship project timeline: Please work with your mentor to provide a timeline of the work you plan to accomplish on the project and what tasks you will finish at each step. Make sure take into account any time commitments you have during the Outreachy internship round. If you are still working on your contributions and need more time, you can leave this blank and edit your application later." - I have left this blank as i need some more time to complete the plugin for perceval. I am working on fedmsg app to trigger an event(source: https://pagure.io/fedmsg-perceval-plugin) Write a minimal fedmsg app which can trigger an event (can be anything like tweeting, sending an IRC message, or anything crazy {Remember, sky is the limit!}) using fedmsg. I am referring to Ralph Bean's tutorials, here are some of the problems I am facing understanding this 1. http://threebean.org/presentations/fedmsg-flock14/#/step-29 *topic_filter = 'fedoratagger' *-> who is publishing these topics on my local system ? 2. Author is building an app to tweet and nowhere is he using the api fedmsg.publish(source:http://www.fedmsg.com/en/stable/) Instead he is using fedmsg.meta, fedmsg.config. There is no video recording or context to understand why he is doing so, any pointers are welcome 3. Fedmsg is part of a pub-sub infrastructure, so when I am developing/testing where are the endpoints that it is publishing to. It is not very clear from the documentation. Any links to tutorials, code or docs that can help me understand this better is appreciated. -Akanksha
