And so whenthere is a Requires: emacs-common >= %{emacsversion} you
get an error like this:

or '/': Requires: emacs-common >= v=$(rpm -q --qf=%{VERSION} emacs) ;
case $v in 2*) echo $v ;; *) echo 0 ;; esac
Oops, that's right. Forgot that those macros need to be referred to
like %(%{emacsversion}), not plain %{emacsversion}. Fixed.
