Hi, Is there a minimal list of packages that are installed by
default
for every fedora install?
Not as such; there is the core package group, which is (for Fedora 15):
acl
attr
audit
authconfig
basesystem
bash
biosdevname
coreutils
cpio
cronie
cronie-anacron
dhclient
e2fsprogs
fedora-release
file
filesystem
glibc
initscripts
iproute
iprutils
iptables
iptables-ipv6
iputils
kbd
libgcc
ncurses
openssh-server
passwd
policycoreutils
procps
readline
rootfiles
rpm
rsyslog
selinux-policy-targeted
sendmail
setserial
setup
shadow-utils
systemd
sudo
util-linux
vim-minimal
yum
Plus, on relevant architectures:
efibootmgr
grub
ppc64-utils
s390utils
silo
yaboot
However, there are caveats:
1) This list is solved for dependencies. So, the actual package list ends up
being larger.
2) The administrator/user is free to customize the package set afterwards,
so not all of these packages may remain installed.
