Subject: Is Fedora likely to support PPC for several more years?
I see there is a Power 8 system being advertised that runs on open
firmware
and does have IME (or the AMD equivalent). I am looking to pick up a
replacement server sometime this year, which would run Fedora and was
wondering if I should keep an eye on this one?

I'd want to be able to run up to date versions of Fedora on it for
several years.
I expect that Fedora will continue to support POWER systems for the
foreseeable future. You may also want to look at
http://openpowerfoundation.org/
and see about OpenPOWER systems that are and will be available.
