OH! I misunderstood. Yes, that URL is guaranteed. That's been in the server for a
while now. It will be where you can grab the CLI that can talk to that server, yes.
The same thing exists for the agent downloads - all servers past, present and future will
allow you to download the agent distribution via:

I understand that you are saying that server and CLI versions must
match and no forward/backward compatibility is guaranteed between
CLI and server.
I was asking if that //host:port/client/download URL was guaranteed
going forward to download the CLI ZIP file (that matches the
server). Will the URL always be available? If so, we could always
download the (right) CLI from the server as part of establishing our
connection.
