python33-python-virtualenv build issue

I'm trying to build python33-python-virtualenv under CentOS6. I'm currently just trying to rebuild the current version as present in: https://www.softwarecollections.org/repos/rhscl/python33/epel-6-x86_64/pyth… I'm getting the error: /usr/lib/rpm/brp-scl-python-bytecompile: line 47: /usr/bin/python3.3: No such file or directory Any idea what I might be doing wrong? NB: I'm doing this in a mock environment, with scl defined to python33. - Morty

Hi Fabrice, first of all, what base SCL are you building against (where did you get it) and for what system (I'm guessing CentOS 6/RHEL 6)? If you're using on of my private repos, e.g. [1], you'll need to install python27-build to your buildroot, since it contains modifications of bytecompile scripts and dependency generators. Also, I'm not sure whether this is a proper material for this list, maybe you should rather use softwarecollections(a)lists.fedorahosted.org (CCing). Slavek. Hi Fabrice, we don't ship any -build sub-package on purpose. It might break user's build environment, so it's provided only by source rpm. It might help you to look on upstream project [1], where you can find -build sub-package [2]. We plan to create much nicer upstream location, but it takes few more weeks. Hi, Bloom, the ROS generator system has recently gotten support to generate rpms[1]. At the moment, the author is simply putting releases into /opt/ros/$ros-release and isn't making use of SCLs. Is this OK, or should they use SCLs? As you'll see from the ticket, I've already pointed him to SCLs, but considering that he's already using /opt/ros/$ros-release, and not the system directories, I'm wondering how using SCLs would be any different? upstream location of Software Collections

Good news everyone, there were complaints that Software Collections don't have any upstream location. I was hoping we could use Fedora as an upstream. But most probably we won't be able to put everything from our project page [1] into Fedora. Therefore, we were looking for different options. The new build system COPR [2] should be soon able to build Software Collections. The content could be transfered to softwarecollections.org. I guess it takes at least month of work. At first we need some generic directory not related to any vendor (Fedora, RHEL, ...) where we could install upstream collections. Upstream community of scl-utils and COPR agreed on location /opt/sclo, but I would be fine with something similar like /opt/scl. Help building catkin for the ros-groovy SCL

Hi, I'm trying to build a SCL for the "Groovy" version of ROS[1]. I've built the meta package already (correctly I hope)[2]. I'm now building the first package "catkin". Here's the spec[3]. It doesn't build in mock though[build log:4]. It fails to locate some python libraries. Could someone please check if I'm doing something wrong here? The mock config that I use is here[5]. (This is my first experience with SCLs.) Ruby 2.0, and a scl feature request

Hi folks, Thanks a lot for providing ruby193 packages for EL-6! I plan to use in combination with Jenkins in order to test Gitorious on this newer Ruby version. Is there any chance of seeing ruby200 packages? Also, with the "scl" tool, is there any way to avoid having to quote the additional commands? For example, it would be nice to be able to use the following line in a shell script in Jenkins: $SCL bundle install If the slave is using scl, then it would set the $SCL variable to whatever is needed. If the slave is just using the standard Ruby config, then $SCL could remain unset, and the bundle command would continue using the standard Ruby stack. Currently scl doesn't allow me to run the "bundle install" without quotes. This means I have to branch the code like so: if [[ -z "$SCL" ]]; then # No alternate Ruby version. Run as normal. bundle install bundle exec rake db:test:purge bundle exec rake db:setup bundle exec rake ci:setup:minitest test:units rcov else # Use the alternate Ruby version. $SCL "bundle install" $SCL "bundle exec rake db:test:purge" $SCL "bundle exec rake db:setup" $SCL "bundle exec rake ci:setup:minitest test:units rcov" fi The large copy-and-paste has already bitten us a couple times, as the list of commands must be identical between both conditions.
