What remix? You mean a spin or a remix? This is a difference: A spin is
an official Fedora Product, a remix is not. And what did you update?

This was on a remix, which contain all Fedora_EDU_SPIN_pakages + OO.org + rpmfusion (Fedora 11 based)
system worked fine for last few months.
after running 'yum update' , could not log-in

root login is disabled in gdm since F10. Can you log in as a user on a
console?
i was trying console login for both user and root, but no luck.
