Hello,
I really (2x) like the LXDE Fedora Spin, but I am annoyed by a
LXPanel bug, since I first installed the LXDE Spin, back in Fedora 13.
1. What Fedora spin is more popular in term of download: LXDE or XFCE,
and why?
Downloads form
http://spins.fedoraproject.org/
#1 KDE 7573 Downloads
#2 XFCE 2792 Downloads
#3 LXDE 2709 Downloads
You see not much of a difference, I think it's just personal preference.
2. Is the XFCE panel stable?
Yes, nothing is as unstable as lxpanel-
3. Is there much change from on DE to another one?
You can configure the layout of xfce4-panel to look just like lxpanel.
Try yourself...
4. Can I install the software I like: PCManFM, Sylpheed, LXTerminal,
etc
in a XFCE environment?
Sure, but you hardly will need it as Xfce provides alternatives for most
of them
* lxterminal -> (Xfce) Terminal
* PCManfm -> Thunar
* Sylpheed -> Claws Mail, the bigger brother of Sylpheed.
But if you like you can install your favorite programs and configure
them in the Xfce control panel to be used as defaults.
Kind regards,
Christoph
