Hello, I'm submitting these kickstarts for French Fedora LiveCDs:
* http://fantom.fedorapeople.org/fedora-livecd-desktop-fr_FR.ks * http://fantom.fedorapeople.org/fedora-livecd-kde-fr_FR.ks * http://fantom.fedorapeople.org/fedora-livecd-lxde-fr_FR.ks * http://fantom.fedorapeople.org/fedora-livecd-xfce-fr_FR.ks
I did them based on the others kickstarts presents in l18n-kickstarts package, all feedbacks are welcome off course. So what is the procedure to include them in l18n-kickstarts package ?...

The general spin guidelines are listed here http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/SIGs/Spins
Generally we don't accept language specific spins. There use to be a Brazilian OpenOffice spin but that has been folded into other spins. The changes/options to support specific languages within spins should be added to the main spins. There's been a couple of discussions about language support and reasons for/against on this mailing list so I suggest you read the archives for all the details.

At Venezuela we have a remix[1] that use with new users who want -everything- after explain to them what is beign installed. This was needed for a national event where users where always requesting mp3 support and other items non-free.
I think that isn't a bad idea to have a local setup for france, however, I would encourage to determine what are the things that make you think that you need one, work together with the rest of the team and try to add as much as possible to the official media.
If we have problems with languages, I think we could figure out another solution.

I don't think that Casper wanted to have this as a spin for download but included in the l18n-kickstarts package. I don't see anything wrong with this as long as we have somebody to maintain and test these spins.
Casper, are you willing to do this? And are you a Fedora contributor already? If so, I could sponsor you and you can commit the files to git.
Kind regards, Christoph

Yeah that is exactly I would like.

I've been sponsored as new packager only. So I need a sponsor :)

Ok, works for me.

OK, I will sponsor you into spin-kickstarts git, but I wonder if we have a workflow for this.
IHMO we should try to lower the barrier compared to the normal spins. This means: * No full spins process but only a quick review by the spins wrangler or the SIG. * New contributors to spin-kickstarts must confirm they understand the spins guidelines. * New contributors must be willing to maintain and test their spins. * New contributors need to be sponsored.
Basically what I have in mind is very similar to the co-maintainer policy where you just need to find a sponsor who trusts you. However two questions come to my mind: 1. Should require contributors to be packagers, too? 2. Should these "co-maintainers" be allowed to maintain official spins or only localized ones?
IHMO for official spins that end up in spins-kickstart we should require a full membership, this means the contributors need to do the spins process for their spins once. But what do we do about co-maintainers for existing spins then? As all spins are supposed to be be reviewed for every release, we could require the new contributors to take part in this process.
Comments? Ideas?

I wasn't when I started. I had planned on eventually being a packager but got involved with the games spin before that happened.

We don't currently have an automatic way to enforce that now and I don't think we want to. I think co-maintainers should be careful, but as they gain experience it is useful for them to be able to fix things in ks files that their spin depends on.

Ok, I have sponsored you into the gitspin-kickstarts group now. For the start, please only commit to your French spins.
And when you commit something, please make sure to use a meaningful commit message. We usually mention the name of the spin or the ks in the commit message, e.g. "KDE: Add package foo".
