In F33+ The fedora-release package has "identity" subpackages which set VARIANT and VARIANT_ID in /etc/os-release. Many of the popular desktop spins have these, but not all do, and some of our newer spins are missing.
If this is set, the DNF "countme" metric tool will report the variant in use, and I can report that back to you -- and eventually have publically-available automatic reports.
Of course, many special-purpose spins shouldn't be measured solely by user count, but it's always a nice baseline number to have.
Please work with Release Engineering to get an identity subpackage for your spin!

Does it apply to labs like Design Suite as well?

I look at the Fedora Release spec file [1]. It seems there is only spins available but no labs yet. In my case, Design Suite Labs is based on Fedora Workstation so how can it apply inside the spec file as there is no template for labs?
Thanks

Since there's no real distinction between labs and spins, I copied one of those over and modified it for the compneuro lab. PR here now---so maybe worth waiting for it to be reviewed to see exactly what you need to do Luya?
