Ah, sorry. I forgot to tell you to set 'timeout = 5400' in the
[domain/DOMAINNAME] section of sssd.conf. By default, the SSSD
will forcibly kill off the unresponsive sssd_be process after 30s
(which makes debugging hard). This gives you 90 minutes to get the
results.
That should report a backtrace now.

Attached is my output from gdb. not sure if its what you are
looking for.
This looks like you started SSSD and then shut it down without trying
to log in in the middle. Did you leave that part out?
