[GSoC 2015] Proposal for Nuancier project proposed
by Yongsheng Xie
Hello everyone,
I am Yongsheng Xie, a junior college student from South China University of
Technology. The purpose for this project is to extend Nuancier, to allow
the Fedoras supplemental wallpaper submission application to submit and
download wallpapers for multi-monitor setup. During this project, I will
improve the UI (adding progress bar, changing in pages, etc) of the
Nuancier, and implement the wallpaper download function.
Here is my application:

My proposal has been submitted to the Google-Melange page.
Best regards,
Yongsheng Xie

GSoC 2015 project - AskFedora UX/UI & Functionality Overhaul
by Kalpani Anuradha
Hi all,
I'm Anuradha Welivita from University of Moratuwa, Sri Lanka. I am very
much into UX/UI related stuff and hence really look forward in contributing
towards this project.
I'm planning to apply for this project because I'm really into UX/UI
related stuff as they are my major interests. I am quite new to FOSS
development and Fedora and I am interested in joining the Design Team as a
long term contributor of Fedora as well.
I did the following work regarding this project.
As a 1st step I cloned the source for testing from (
*github.com/fedoradesign/askbot-test*
<https://github.com/fedoradesign/askbot-test>). I also installed the OpenShift
rhc Client Tools and learned to create a new Python web project using that.
And I have created a web interface by looking at the mock ups provided and
you can see what I created by going to this link
(*askbot-anuradhaw.rhcloud.com <http://askbot-anuradhaw.rhcloud.com/>*)
Still I'm half way through developing the web interface and still it is
created to view under a fully maximized web browser only. And I'm going to
make it responsive soon.
Furthermore to get familiarized with the code of askbot I have also cloned
the source code from the github repo and I'm in the process of getting it
installed on my machine.
Thank you.

GSOC 15 - AskFedora UX/UI Revamp
by SREEVASTHAVAN K C
Hello world ,
I am K C Sreevasthavan (vasthav), 3rd year Computer Science and Engineering
student at National Institute of Technology Calicut, India. I am really
good at
C, C++, python, html, CSS, Javascript.
I would love to contribute and work with Fedora Foundation during this
years
GSOC '15. I am interested to work on the AskFedora UI/UX and functionality
revamp. I gone through the mock UX/UI suggested and believe that I can do
it.
I would also like to build the whole thing around the the idea of card like
elements
interacting and complementing each other without effecting the current
essential
features. I am currently working on the mockup and would post it ASAP
I know I am already late in applying for the GSOC. But I guarantee that
this does
not reflect the lack of enthusiasm or determination towards the project.
Regards,
vasthav

GSoC 2015 project - AskFedora UX/UI & Functionality Overhaul
by Kalpani Anuradha
Hello,
I'm Anuradha Welivita from University of Moratuwa, Sri Lanka. I am very
much into UX/UI related stuff and hence really look forward in contributing
towards this project.
While searching for a UX/UI related project for me to contribute in GSoC
2015, I came intact with the project idea "AskFedora UX/UI & Functionality
Overhaul". By looking at the mock ups provided I was more than happy to
commit myself in developing the design idea for Ask Fedora.
But I am quite new to FOSS development and Fedora. I have created my FAS
User account and I am interested in joining the Design Team of Fedora as
well.
As the deadline for student applications close in few days I would like to
have a go in competing for getting a chance to contribute for this project.

Introduction
by Gaurav Narula
Hi Everyone,
I've been looking into the GSoC 2015 projects and am interested in the
Fedora Patch Tracker project. The project involves a fair amount of python
and web development skills and is something that I'm comfortable working on.
I'm a sophomore at Birla Institute of Technology & Science, Goa Campus [1]
majoring in Computer Science and Economics. In the last few years, I've
contributed to a few open source projects during Google Code In 2011 (where
I was one of the grand prize winners [2]) and Google Summer of Code 2014
with Sahana Software Foundation (the project involved creating an interface
for deploying their product and made heavy use of automation tools like
Ansible). I've been using Linux for 8 years, alternating between different
distributions (Fedora, Archlinux and Ubuntu) and have a fair amount of
experience working on them.
After some discussions with Till, I've come up with a prototype for the
project whose source can be accessed at [3] and a live instance is
available at [4]. The prototype is a work in progress and there are some
limitations as mentioned in the README.
I'd really appreciate some feedback and suggestions on the prototype and I
look forward to making it even better.
Looking forward to contributing this summer.
P.S. Please abide by the limitations in the readme while trying out the
prototype until the design is improved.
Regards,
Gaurav Narula
