(CANCELLED) 2012-03-23 @ 17:00 UTC - F17 Beta Blocker Bug Review #4
by Tim Flink
Since there is only one currently proposed blocker and F17 beta RC1
should land sometime Friday, there isn't much point in having a blocker
meeting.
Instead, please test beta RC1 once it lands. There are a lot of
accepted blocker bugs - the fixes for them will need testing and
verification.
So, on with the testing!

Sugar Fedora Test Day - 2012-03-22
by Samuel Greenfeld
On Thursday March 22 there will be a Fedora test day for Sugar [*].
Sugar is an educational graphical user environment designed for use by
children. It is used by several educational groups, including the One
Laptop per Child project as part of their Fedora remix, as well as the
Sugar-on-a-Stick Fedora Spin.
While we are still working on getting everything online, we plan to have a
variety of test cases and exploratory tasks for everyone to work on.
Representatives from the project will be available from 08:00 to 20:00
GMT.

Annoying reminder: please keep karma'ing, folks
by Adam Williamson
Hey, everyone.
I've noticed recently that the level of karma filing for F16 and F17
seems to be down somewhat. Could just be me misinterpreting things, but
I thought I'd fire off a reminder anyway. Even though proventesters has
been suspended, we still need karma on updates - it just doesn't matter
whether or not you're a proven tester now. Updates still need karma to
go stable. So please do carry on running fedora-easy-karma and filing
update feedback regularly! There are quite a few updates for both
releases going stale. Thanks everyone!
Maintainers, you can consider lowering the threshold from +3 for
autopush of updates in some cases. It's only a default, not a
requirement. If you're fairly confident an update is small and
well-tested, it probably doesn't need +3 karma, you could consider
choosing +1 or +2 instead.

Announcing 389 Directory Server version 1.2.10.4 Testing
by Rich Megginson
The 389 Project team is pleased to announce the release of
389-ds-base-1.2.10.4. This release contains a fix for a bug that causes
the directory server to hang when using compare operations with virtual
attributes. No new features were added after alpha 8, just many bug
fixes. There are also 389-adminutil, 389-admin, and 389-dsgw packages
in Testing.
NEW: EL6 support
Beginning with RHEL 6.2, the 389-ds-base package is included in the base
OS. Therefore, the 389-ds-base package can no longer be provided via
EPEL, due to RHEL/EPEL packaging restrictions.
However, the 389 Project will still make the full 389-ds-base package
available via http://repos.fedorapeople.org/repos/rmeggins/389-ds-base.
See http://directory.fedoraproject.org/wiki/Download for more information.
NEW: Issue Tracking System
We have moved our ticket tracking system from the Red Hat Bugzilla
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/enter_bug.cgi?product=389 to our Fedora
Hosted Trac https://fedorahosted.org/389. All of the old 389 bugs have
been copied to Trac. All new bugs, feature requests, and tasks should be
entered in Trac
This link shows all of the issues fixed in the 1.2.10 branch -
https://fedorahosted.org/389/report/12
In addition to the tickets for Milestone 1.2.10.3 there were a couple of
issues found by valgrind that have been fixed.
NEW: Plugin Authors
WARNING: Plugins should be made transaction aware so that they can be
called from within a backend pre/post transaction plugin. Otherwise,
attempting to perform an internal operation will cause a deadlock. See

Test Day: USB 3.0
by John Dulaney
Shiver me timbers!
It's time for another Beefy Test Day, Argh! Tomorrow, 13 March, is the USB 3.0 Test Day!
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Test_Day:2012-03-13_USB_3.0
Testing is easy; just use your favourite up-to-date Fedora 17 image (Live or Install); everything
is included! The testing will require that you have some sort of USB 3.0 hardware to plug into
your box. The Wiki page delves deeper into how and what to test. The maintainers and some
of the usual crew will be hanging out in #fedora-test-day and #fedora-qa. Ping anyone in either
of those channels if you require assistance.
To recap for those of you too busy trying to deliver the pizza before the Ninjas:

Test Day 2012-03-15: GNOME Shell and Extensions
by Kamil Paral
There will be a "GNOME Shell and Extensions" Test Day on Thursday!
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Test_Day:2012-03-15_Gnome_Shell_and_Extens...
Here's an introduction from Vitezslav Humpa, who's in charge of this event from QA perspective:
While Fedora 17 Test Day cycle is starting to take speed, this week's Test Day is focusing on Gnome 3 again, in particular the gnome-shell extension management. Since the release of the new Gnome about a year ago there has been a great progress in ways one can customize it. Remember applets, desktop widgets etc. back in Gnome 2? Missed them? Now we have all that back in form of Gnome shell extensions! Shell's architecture makes it relatively painless to make them and lots of useful extensions are already out.
There are several ways one can manage them. In addition to having gnome-tweak-tool, extension management has also been integrated with web browsers and https://extensions.gnome.org/. There you can search for and install extensions as well as generally manage them - all directly from the web. Haven't tried it yet? Go on, it's really nice! And while you're at it, you can kill two birds by a single stone by joining the Fedora Test Day as you explore the world of customizing your Gnome.
