* https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=804216 (tflink, 21:09:00)
* AGREED: - 804216 - RejectedBlocker (beta) - This is a little nasty
but it can be worked around by installing the langpacks manually
post-install or enabling a network repo (tflink, 21:14:21)
* https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=811412 (tflink, 21:14:51)
* AGREED: - 811412 - RejectedBlocker - Respun lives from RC4.1 will be
accepted for beta. Since RC4.1 is not affected by this bug, dropping
as a blocker for F17 beta (tflink, 21:20:01)
* https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=811438 (tflink, 21:20:13)
* AGREED: - 811438 - RejectedBlocker - The oversized KDE spins were a
direct consequence of moving to livecd-creator 17.7. Since the lives
from RC4.1 are using livecd-creator 17.3, this bug does not apply to
beta and thus is not a beta blocker (tflink, 21:23:13)

Fedora 17 Beta RC4.1 available - what is it? Find out here
by Adam Williamson
Hi, folks. You may have noticed a 17 Beta RC4.1 directory show up on the
mirror:
http://dl.fedoraproject.org/pub/alt/stage/17-Beta.RC4.1
and been asking yourself what it is. Well, wonder no more. We built the
live images for Beta RC4 with livecd-tools 17.7, in an attempt to fix
this bug:
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=810104
However, it turns out that the images built with 17.7 still don't boot
properly via EFI when dd'ed (so that bug is not entirely fixed), and the
use of 17.7 actually introduced some other bugs:
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=811412
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=811438
So we decided to re-spin just the live images with livecd-tools 17.4
(the build we used to spin all previous composes) and call it RC4.1.
This would give us the opportunity to test both RC4 and 'RC4.1' and
decide which to ship at the Go/No-Go meeting based on the results.
So, the RC4.1 lives have the exact same contents from a package
standpoint as RC4, but are built with the older livecd-tools we used for
all previous composes. I've added a second copy of the 'USB' table to
the installation results page:
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Test_Results:Fedora_17_Beta_RC4_Install#US...
so we can compare the results from RC4 and RC4.1. So far, a few of us
have confirmed that RC4.1 is back to behaving exactly as RC3 did so far
as USB-written images are concerned, which is what we expected and
should allow us to release it.
Sorry for the fudge, folks...I've added this to the retrospective as
something to improve on in future, I think we just made the wrong call
to use livecd-tools 17.7 for RC4, and that's partly my fault for
suggesting it and +1ing it. I just didn't appreciate that the changes
from 17.4 to 17.7 were significant, the impression I got was that it was
some kind of trivial fix, which turns out not to be the case at all. We
really should have just stuck with 17.4 for RC4.

Fedora KDE Plasma Workspace Test Day - 2012-04-10
by Martin Holec
Hi,
as Rezza wrote, this Tuesday is Fedora Test Day focused on KDE 4.8.
KDE 4.8 Plasma Workspaces is an important desktop environment used by many Fedora users and is part of Fedora KDE spin. It's an excellent alternative to Gnome Shell desktop environment.
Please help Fedora project test KDE 4.8 Plasma Workspaces in upcoming Fedora 17 release.
Test Day wiki page: https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Test_Day:2012-04-10_KDE_4.8
Join us at IRC #fedora-test-day on Freenode.

Subject: Fedora KDE Plasma Workspace Test Day - 2012-04-10
Hi,
there will be Fedora KDE Test Day tomorrow and I hope you
will join us to help making our spin better ;-) Yep, we
forgot about Easter holidays, but...
The Test Day will be held the whole day, we try to cover
most timezones (as our presence allows).
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Test_Day:2012-04-10_KDE_4.8
See you at #fedora-test-day
One note: if you're going to use rc3 in kvm, use qxl/spice
combination as there's breakage using cirrus/vnc.

[Fedora test day report] Gnome Shell Software Rendering 2012-03-29
by Martin Holec
Hi,
last Thursday/Friday was Gnome Shell Software Rendering Test Day. Numbers of attendants exceed my initial expectations. We have 15 configurations tested, some modern as well as some older hardware and also virtualized machines. Unfortunately, I spent most of Thursday building custom test images[2] with lastminute Mesa fixes from Wednesday, but all testing was successfully done during Friday and on weekend.
Thanks to following people, who attended this Test Day:
People from Fedora community:
Sagitter
Adsllc

806693 ON_QA - swell-foop missing icon in Applications menu
810130 CLOSED UPSTREAM - Right Win key does not cause the Activities menu
Gnome Bugzilla bugs:

[2] "yum update" still crashes running Fedora Live system: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=741594 that's why we needed custom images.

F17 Beta to slip by an additional week.
by Robyn Bergeron
At the Go/No-Go meeting it was decided to slip the Beta by an additional
week[1]. Minutes follow below.
Though the QA team was able to get through all validation testing, it
was found that preupgrade was not functioning at an acceptable level,
thus becoming an additional blocker which prevents us from shipping RC3,
and necessitating the creation of an RC4.
As a result, ALL MAJOR MILESTONES, and their dependent tasks, will be
pushed out by one week. Beta will now be looking at an expected release
of 2012-04-17, and F17 GA is now scheduled for 2012-05-22. This is the
second one-week slip of beta.
Adjustments to the full F17 schedule have been completed and now reflect
the above Beta and GA dates, and high-level milestones have been updated
as well on the Schedule wiki page[3].
We will be meeting again next Wednesday for another Go/No-Go meeting
(2012-04-11.) All hail our QA pals and the anacondanistas for their
dedication (and many, many others as well).

* https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=810289 (adamw, 16:14:24)
* AGREED: #810289 is rejected as a blocker on the basis that we've
never actually checked for low space on upgrade (and hence have
implictly never considered it a blocking issue). anaconda will just
try to upgrade and explode. so this isn't in fact a regression
compared to earlier releases, and we don't have a specific
requirement for a low space check in criteria or anywhere else.

* https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=810005 (adamw, 19:45:42)
* AGREED: 810005 is accepted as a blocker per criterion "The installer
must be able to successfully complete an upgrade installation from a
clean, fully updated default installation (from any official install
medium) of the previous stable Fedora release, either via preupgrade
or by booting to the installer manually. The upgraded system must
meet all release criteria". the known workaround has too many

* Go or no-go? (rbergeron, 19:54:12)
* we have a blocker. (rbergeron, 19:54:27)
