Samba problems
by Nicholas Marsh
Every resource I access with samba requires a password multiple times.
For example if I copy a folder to my Ferdora box that has 13 files in
it, I get prompted for my password 13 times. Very annoying.
Any idea what I'm doing wrong?
Thanks!

Got a CD-ROM or CD-RW on those devices?
I was puzzled by those errors too (also happens on RH9 if you enable
smartd) and they only happen when you have a removable device with no
medium in it...

That is correct, however I was under the impression
that the severn kernel would choose correctly between
acpi and apm WITHOUT having to add acpi=on on the
kernel boot line. It did work for me with beta1 but no
longer with test2.

problems with samba 3
by Rainer Hattenhauer
Hello,
just installed the new test2-severn CDs (fresh install), and I'm stuck right
now in some trouble using samba.
I'm not able any more to contact with an WinXP-Box after configuration with
the redhat-config-samba tool (there are still some bugs inside the grafical
tool, for exampe when writing down my workgroup which is written in great
caps, it converts automatically to small caps)
So right now, I'm able to "see" the samba-box from my WinXp-System, but I
can't browse the shares of the linux-box.
In a previous posting, there were some hints about the authentification
mode, but I didnt't figured out the proper parameters in smb.conf.
Another point is that browsing the network from Nautilus with smb:// doesn't
work anymore too, with the last release 0.93 I didnt't had any Problems.
Can someone give me a hint, please ?
Thank you in advance

WEP Keys For Wireless 802.11g Cardbus Adapters
by Robert L Cochran
For the SMC model SMC2835W ("2.4 GHz 54 Mbps Wireless Cardbus Adapter")
card, how do I actually derive or develop the WEP keys to use? I'm
confused about that. Or do I just enter random hex digits in the keys?
Thanks for any and all help.

test2 initial reactions
by Gene C.
1. Option for selecting individual packages during install seems to be missing
(bugzilla 105646).
2. After installation, when I booted up everything looked OK untill I got to
firstboot when the cursor did not react normally (bounced around the screen).
Once I got to gdm and gnome/metacity, the cursor responded normally (bugzilla
105648).
3. Thank you for including the vmware driver in XFree86. Did going to Fedora
make this "easier"?

Why was this not included in Fedora? Does it have questionable code?

Gstreamer and xmms
by Maynard Kuona
Is there any way I can make xmms use Gstreamer for its input. That way I
would only have to worry about keeping up to date with Gstreamer
plugins. And also, does anyone else have problems with playback of some
mp3 files using gstreamer. Some of my mp3s say media type not found or
some other error messages.
